?? about headlight modification

I'm planning on spliting my headlights to remove the amber diffuser and possibly black them out. While I'm in there I was looking for more options and remember seeing a mod that I cant seem to find anywhere anymore. I believe it was called "demon eyes", but when I search that it just comes up with red halos which is not what I'm interested in.

If I remember correctly the mod I'm looking for info on, someone had removed the "projector" and painted some part of it red. This way when you walk by instead of the pearly blueish purple white look it looked red instead. It didnt light up or anything, just had a red color in behind the "lens".

Anyone have any links or info? I've tried searching here and google but with out knowing the proper term, I'm having trouble finding it again. Hope some of that made sense lol.

Thanks Mak

This should help.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/demon-eyes-875311/

Also, this link is in the thread.

http://tinyurl.com/b88rhy3

The Evo pictured appears to have demon eyes (red inside the projector) and angel eyes (white rings around the projector housing).

As for searching Acurazine, the search here is horrible. A lot of us go to Google and type in "Acurazine (rest of what you're looking for)". Example: Acurazine demon eyes. That should help a lot, however I found that thread about 10 pages back because I remember seeing it not too long ago, I found it by luck

Demon eyes are when you paint the cutoff shield red inside of the projector. There's a newer headlight thread in the photo section with pics of them. I probably would have done this if anything on my car was red but everything is white and black.

Perfect thanks man, thats the thread I had seen before. After a brief look at that thread it seems a portion of coke can in the projector is the way to go.

If anyone has anymore info on these it would definitely be appreciated, I'll see what I can gather before I ask whole bunch of questions. But it seems as though projectors with clear lenses, as opposed to our "fresnel", I believe theyre called, would be needed.

Anyone know for sure if I'd have to swap to clear lenses? And if so, I could assume ZKW-R 3in clear lenses is what I'd be looking for?

You're welcome

The demon eye thing isn't very popular on a TL, for more info I'd look at the Evo forums, it seems pretty popular with them.

If I remember correctly, he also put a red LED light in the projector as well for an even deeper and more vibrant red.

I read the thread over on the Evo forum, buddys has some talent thats for sure and far more patients than I lol.

It does look awesome with the red LED but I'm only interested in the more passive approach I guess you could say. I like how its always "on" with the painted shield and would probably never turn on an LED anyway.

Just gotta find out about the lense but I'm thinking this will definitely be happening in the near future.

NBP TL stock red tails and sidemarkers, red calipers and red demon eye cleared headlights mmm, now if only I could keep the grungy salt off it this winter, gotta love Nova Scotia lol.

The clear lenses are a no brainer if you're gonna open it up anyways, I got ZKW-R's from theretrofitsource.com for $25. I used the value ones cause they won't sell them if there's an actual defect on the lens, there was a chip on the edge that you can't see and they're optically clear. You could maybe use engine or header paint instead of a can as it should withstand way higher temps and then no risk of a piece of metal coming loose and floating around your headlights.

Clear lenses yes definitely, but aren't needed. Painting the shields is going to be your best bet as opposed to the LEDs cause they're eventually going to fail on you and you're going to have to open the headlights back up every time for repair.
