3G TL 6MT among C&D's quickest FWD cars ever tested

Acura was the 1st Japanese luxury branch arrived here in the US and yet the prestige of the Acura brand cant be found in this very present day, if you look at Infiniti and Lexus they both has their own prestige within their brand. Acura Legend was some what par with the Lexus LS400 back in the 90s despite the V6 vs V8, FWD vs RWD.
If you take the looks at its predecessor (RLX) the prestige is no where near Lexus GS nor Infiniti Q and the used car market value spoke for themselves., the TLX isn't far behind either, I can buy one with around 50k miles for $21k (hell when my Type Slow was 5 years old and it still worth more than $21k with similar mileage.
Honestly IF Acura doesn't wow me with the new "Type S" then my relationship will end after the 3g TL.

I was surprised at the weight of the GT350. (~3800lbs) IMHO, I probably like the ZL1 1LE more than the GT350 - similar weight with a big HP advantage and both very capable on a track. I guess the big thing with the GT350 is that big NA V8 with the "flat plane crank" that every youtuber likes to preface/mention when they say GT350.
Though for me, I too hope to be in your shoes when I reach my retirement years and have a plethora of performance vehicles to choose from without huge financial constraints. In the mean-time I will realistically only go for a "lowly" Mustang GT as a performance value car (especially given how they've made some nice changes for the 2018 motors).
But to not detract totally off-topic, this is quite surprising but I think older cars were also lighter as well (anyone wanna put up lbs comparison of 3G TL vs 5G TLX?).
As much as I love newer cars with all its tech and features, I wouldn't mind getting another clean 3G TL-S (from my 06 base TL 5AT to upgrade) as the styling and handling are just superb.

Porsche Audi is the pick of the litter in shift speed. In 2011 my 335is upshift was 60 milliseconds today the BMW ZF8 is 80. They are saying they will phase out the 7DCT as newer ZF8's are quicker & can handle more torque. BMW is going up to 380BHP in the 2020 340 series with the up-rated ZF8.

However, I dispute that you tied this Camry's advantage to the transmission. Unrelated. The Camry V6 is lighter and more powerful, and accordingly, has an higher HP/lbs than the TLX V6. 'nough said.

Yes. I don't dispute that. TLX should be at least a low 5s 0-60mph car. Acura bet on fuel economy and affordability. You can get a 3.0T elsewhere for 10K more if it is your thrill. Anyway their own upcoming 3.0T will fix that in 2020.... at a cost. In the last decade, Acura is poorly managed, nothing new.

I think you forgot to mention that Camry doesn't "recommended" premium fuel unlike the over price TLX Aspec and you forgot about the Q50 Sport which has the base price cheaper than FWD TLX Aspec and best of yet it will dust your Aspec (the official 0-60 time is 5.0 sec).
The interior is 10x better than the TLX, my point is the Aspec isn't the "sport" sedan Acura claim to be, oh that blue paint that cost $400 more and interior LED lightning doesn't make the TLX any faster either
Oh and that Type S there are a lot of speculation that it will be around 350-360 HP at the crank. IF that is the case your "2020 Type S" will easily loose a fight to a Q50 RS and lets not mention to the F car from Lexus so it won't fix nothing.
For god shake the current Kia Stinger already put down 360 at the crank, new Flash Acura the 2020 Lexus IS series could feature a 3.5 Twin Turbo motor derivative variant from the current LS500.

A-SPEC didn't exist in 2016 - my car. I ONLY run regular. Premium is for suckers.
https://www.consumerreports.org/fuel...d-premium-gas/
Q50 is not in the picture. Horrible dated interior. Just NO.
I know this is AcuraZine and its foolishness, but the TLX A-Spec is definitely a car that I would choose over the Q50 base 3.0T. And it is not a 0.4s 0-60mph difference that would change that.

LMAO, which side you are choose to defend? Performance or MPG? Can't make up your mind? BTW if your TLX is 2016 then why would we have this conversation in the first place? LOLOLOL
"premium for sucker" LMAO ok you right may be Geo Prism is a better car. I am dying laughing lolololol.

I am no kid racer and 5-60mph in 6.1s is good enough if I get a 3-4 mpg or 15-20% benefit. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Agree it should be a lot of the things the TL was but unfortunately its not. Its not as quick, not as fast, not as good looking, not as good a buy, not as well received by the public, not as agile, not as light, no performance tire option, no 6MT option, no standard LSD on the 6MT FWD, no Brembo brakes. Despite being fatter, bigger & bulkier all the TLX interior measurements, seating etc, are less then the TL's including gross cubic feet of passenger room. The TLX does win the trunk size prize. Just a short list.
Hows that Thoiboi, lots of nice stuff about the TL.

At least we think he's leasing
Maybe he signed a contract in blood 0% for 36 months
Just needed to gobble down a bag of oblong objects and tattoo Acura on his ass

Saintor uses which ever TLX better suits his argument. Sometimes it's FWD numbers. Sometimes it's AWD numbers.
It's sad when you need to use two cars to compare to any one car.

Real talk tho Jay, a lot of these guy praise their TLX but in the end they all lease them. Which make me wonder, if the car is so good then why lease them in the 1st place?

You wouldn't because Acura doesn't sell car well as back in the mid 2000s.
My former RL owner (senior sale rep for my local Acura dealer) admit to me that he f***ked up and bought a "turd" PAWS RLX since the dealer gave him big discount, He wanted to buy the RL back and I told him "sure I can let it go for $12k"

Still waiting your proof that recent ZF 8HP (BMW ZF8) gear changes is 80ms, not 200ms (same as 6HP of 2006-2007).
*Good luck.*

Thank you for enhancing average AZ mod's profile... somehow.
For somebody skilled with numbers, there is no way to buy a new car and resell it after 3-5 years at better price than leasing a discounted car 36mo 0% with a decent residual. If you buy for 7 years of more, that can change.
