Fair enough. I guess it just proves they did a great job on the CTS-V.

I'm sure ultimately the ATS-V does eat some of the sales of the CTS-V just like the M3 does for the M5, but they're still distinct cars.

As for the 2G CTS-V, I think it's fine, it's simple, but then again American cars were never known for their interior refinement. I think it looks a bit older than the German counterparts of the same year but not painfully so, just like you said even a bit retro analog looking.

The ATS-V is just a meh design for being a 2016+ model.

ATS came out around 2013, I figured it was before the new design
ATS was just too early, but the Vsport got the update

Maybe Vsport was early but was designed in for update later
It would otherwise seem it's close to drop in replace
and they all align to the CUE version updates

Yves, I chalk it up to it being a real gentle man's car. I'm grateful to have avoided CUE and I think the throwback simple shit looks cool and kinda keeps it a tad old school. The next wave of
car guy's are going to have to be IT guys. Shit, that's already the case...better be able to datalog and VAG system and tune and........I still dig turning a wrench so I don't mind the look, functionality.

I don't mind the analog looks either (minus fucking clocks in cars, plz gtfo with that fake ass cheap Chinese-made looking shit, if you put a god damn clock in your dashboard it better be fucking great) and I agree with you now cars are all so crammed with tech and futuristic looking features it's ridiculous.
Luxury brands really love shoving in as many gadgets as possible in their cars, cladding engine bays with as many plastic covers as possible and trying to make ICE look harmless and refined.

I like and want cars that are still brutish, that make rough and clunking sounds with actual linkage between parts rather than everything being electromagically controlled. I'm glad some American cars still keep that spirit alive, even if sometimes unwillingly.
I'm sure a lot of people enjoy manual transmission for that same reason, it's sometimes the sole remnant of harshness in modern cars.


Oh and yeah, luxury cars should all have had bluetooth going 2010 and up, no excuse for being so late to the game. I get that the geriatric fucks who bought these cars still needed to listen to their Aznavour cassette tapes somehow and even the adoption to ceedees was difficult for them, but for anyone else these features are sorely missed if not included. 'tis the time of smartphones after all.

Yesterday we flew a kite like a MF boss.

It was a nice windy day and we went to a big park with a huge open space, free from trees, power lines, and other kite murderers. Put that bitch up and started running it out. Jr was putting it out and was like, we're running out of string. I look at it and told him not to worry, there was plenty left. A little bit later he's like "we're out of string".

In all my years, I've never put out all the string on a kite. A new milestone. It was pretty epic!

First, I've never in my life seen someone wire up a switch with the push connector
Fuck that, no wonder it was sparking up and being all crazy and shit

I could hear these switches spark every time I flipped them
One shorted, so I thought, and took out a whole bedroom.
Was getting hot and gnd reversed signal at each outlet, not so

I think it was a bad neutral, because once I replaced the switch, no go
Went back to the switch and checked out the hack job they did
Neutral twist was partly melted, wtf, retwisted them

Fucking ground wire was taped to two other grounds.
Taped. Fucking Taped, I fucking kid you not. The ground wire.
Continuity sometimes, push together, there we go.. wtf?!?!?

Anyways, I think I might need to check every switch and outlet
