Back Seat

I know, I know....this is an old post.

But when you Google TL vs TSX this post comes up so here is my little input.

I can't believe nobody mentioned that the TSX's rear seats fold down and increase the ability to haul a lot of bigger/longer things where as the TL's rear seats do not fold down.

I own a 2005 TL, and I really wish Acura would include fold down rear seats in all their sedans, not just the TSX.

There's a reason why they don't fold down, there's some big pieces of metal that help structural rigidity and keep the car from twisting.

I know that, but the engineers in the design phase could have engineered it to have fold down rear seats and maintain good structural strength like so many other cars offer.

If they done it for the TSX, not sure why they didn't do it on the TL and RL...

The folding seat issue was the biggest issue I had with buying my TL ten years ago and I have a different perspective with this hindsight.

What I found over the years was the TL's trunk access door was sufficient for most of the things I needed to haul: shovels, pvc pipe, lumber, etc. I could also still have 3 other passengers with me which happened a few times. I have hauled some super long pieces of PVC pipe by going out the sunroof and it worked just fine. You'll be sacrificing one passenger spot folding down the seat in a TSX.

The really big things may not even not fit in the TSX with the seat folded that I have brought home in the TL: 48" flat screen TV (in box). The TV came home by placing between the front and rear seats. I have an SUV for the other big stuff but have hauled some impressive items in the TL. My most recent feat was hauling a new American Standard toilet in the back of the TL trunk with all my tools and stuff for installing it. That was something I thought I was going to need to place on the back seat but the trunk surprised me. I'm not sure you can do that with a TSX.
