2008 TL-S brakes
Hello
I have a 2008 TL type S, and I am considering trying some different brake pads and rotors as compared to the usual Brembos. I am tired of paying every two years for the rotors and the brakes. I do spirited driving sometimes, but mostly normal driving. The 700 bucks every two years is a bit too expensive..
I have read a lot of threads here, and would just like some top suggestions for alternatives based on what you guys have tried and have worked out well for you guys. Worst case, I guess I can try it for 6 months and then pony up if needed, but I atleast want to try one alternative since I plan to keep the car for a while. I was interested in seeing what your experience were with other pads and rotors and your style of driving, what you didnt like about them(sqeal? not enough stopping power? dust? anything else?) and if you would recommend them. I am hoping it would help other folks too who are looking for the same information in one thread.
Thank you in advance!

I have used the top end Auto Zone pads and they have been great! Low dust and stopping power is awesome. The best part is you only pay for them once. They have a free replacement policy when they wear and need to be replaced . I'm on my 3rd set and no questions asked when you replace them. Go to AutoZone.com

I am a strong believer in changing pads only if the rotors are not warped. I do this on a lot of my cars and the TL brembo stock pad material seems to be very easy on the stock rotors. It makes a OEM brake job $160 vs $400 for parts. Also since the pads come out through the top of the caliper a brake job can happen in 30min if you're quick. A lot of people advise against it but I have about 70,000 on my stock front rotors with no issues. I would finally replace them at the next brake job. I have had good experience with Auto Zone's MAX Pads as I think they are called now. Autozone's rotors are good too they just rust really bad.
