2007 steering wheel

so i bought this 2007 Acura tl steering wheel. and was wondering if i can put this in an 05, im guessing i would need a new airbag plus the switches????? what else would i need, i did the search but the threads i found weren't really that much of help.

if its too much of a hassle then i will sell the steering wheel, but its a shame since it is friggin new, it has that leathery smell and all, and it would look good on my tl, so i hope it doesn't take much to swap it.

thank you in advance for your help.

hey i've been trying to do this as well but never had the time for... what switches?? could u take a pict of the steering wheel??? did u check if the harness are the same?? if not i think u can always make a custom one, and yes u will need the air bag that's all... btw i would recomend to get the base moddel and not the type-s one...

Why not just have a custom wrap to your wheel? Far less hassle. FYI: It's not a direct swap, harnesses differ.

For about 1/2 the price/effort of what you're going to pay, you could just as well go to dallascustomsteering wheel and have it modified just about ANY way you like.

Just a thought. Myself included, a few members have used his exemplary services.

Oh, just one last point - it might be prudent to have a full understanding of what will be required for this retrofit...before you commit (fiscally) to such an endeavor...it might seem simple on the surface...

...but if you do succeed, you had better make sure you post a DIY on this!

There was some guy here a while back that swore the same - never heard from again.

Don't forget about the MID controls. They are on the cluster in '04-'06 and on the wheel '07-'08. The cluster surrounds aren't interchangeable, either. The wiring harnesses are completely different as well. I'd be willing to bet that the clock springs are different, too. No one has even confirmed whether the steering column splines match up.

It's just not worth it.

Do you have a steering wheel you can show to all of us?

I THINK I paid around $337...but that's EVERYTHING, including a spare wheel to send for the job, shipping, and all of the customized goodies. IIRC, you can have your wheel redone for about $200 on up, depending on just how much work you want done. Don @ dallascustom RULES.

I finished the wiring about 6 months ago. The only thing that I couldn't get to work was the voice command since they're no independent switch for it (i never cared because i don't use it) and the MID controls. Other than that everything works. Reason its not on the car is because I have yet to find an 07-08 airbag for under 400 dollars. For some reason people think that an 04-06 is worthless, 09-10 is worth about 250 bucks and an 07-08 is made of gold....anyway, heres the picture of it rewired and a video of the audio control working, it was one of the first things I got wired up. The splines are the same for whoever is wondering, and yes the clock spring is different this is NOT a direct plug in. I had to buy the schematics for both models to make the harness. Luckily Honda kept the same resistance for all the controls. Just an FYI, the 04-06 controls are all individual and plug into a harness. The 07-08 controls have the harness soldered to the circuit boards of the controls so your best bet is to try and buy a complete wheel with everything.
