2007 Acura TL Navi

I'm new to this site but I just picked up an Acura 2007 with a rebuilt title. It's a 2007 TL with Navi with 113k miles on it. Ended up working out a deal with a private party and got it for under 5k. Wanted everyone's opinions on what I should be looking for in terms of maintenance especially since the titles been rebuilt. Never owned a TL till now but easily one of the best cars I've driven. I'll be able to upload some pics later on today when I get home. Any help is much appreciated.

Just depends on where the damage occurred and how severe it was. Rebuilt titles are often given to older vehicles since their book value depreciates and costs of repairs are quite high. Especially for paint etc. So besides the regular items you should be looking for wear and tear, try and zero in on where the damage occurred and see if it needs any work. But seems like you got a pretty good deal!

Took some pics of the body as well as the engine.

aka Flood vehicle.

Post some pics of the interior floor? Peel back the carpet in spots you can.

Where are you located? That is a lot of rusted bolts/clamps so depending on location I would have to agree with it being salvaged due to water damage.

Acurate_ 06-12-2019 01:58 PM

In Florida. Got a Carfax and it says it's had no flood damage. What could be the reason for the rust ? Can that be cleaned?

That is a lot of rust. What was the reason for the salvage title?

It was in a collision. Directly in the front only. The airbags did deploy. Minor cosmetic things but no issues inside really. All doors sound good when it closes and I haven't noticed any issues except when I put the car in Drive it vibrates very slightly. Kinda like jumps when I put it in D. Doesn't happen in any other gear

Sounds like it could have a bad engine mount or two. Very common issue.

I would take a look at the history of the car to see where it located for the past 3-5 years. after Harvey and other storm the flood vehicle has stormed used car dealer lot across the nation. Not all car receive insurance pay out so don't expect all of them showed as "flooded" in the history report.

I don't know how you define minor but for me airbags deploying is sort of a major thing... :squint:

Acurate_ 06-19-2019 11:55 AM

Right that is major, I mean as of now there are no major cosmetic issues.

Damn right , personalities can be fixed... Looks can't.:toocool:

All jokes aside though I figured if I put about 1400 into the car id have a reliable daily driver. Finding an Acura with under 170k s pretty hard in my area. Even then they want like 6000 if it's in decent shape

subinf 06-19-2019 07:48 PM

The only things that would concern me about the car are the airbags and the rust/dirty engine bay. It does look like it took a bath. But all that really matters is that you're happy with it and the price you paid. Especially if they are hard to come by generally.
