2007 Acura TL - Belt

I just replaced the idler pulley and tensioner pulley on my 2007 Acura TL (I did not change the belt). Upon starting the car I noticed squealing and the belt no longer aligned. My question is what would cause the belt to align at the outer edge of the tension pulley and squeal at low RPM?

Lots of things, time to recheck your work.

For the time being redo your work. Work from bottom up leaving power steering pulley for last. Is the belt damaged from being misaligned? How old is it? If not fairly new get a new belt.

I don’t think the belt is damaged from being misaligned as I barely ran the car, however, I went ahead and bought a new belt. The belt definitely has some wear on it (although it probably had some life left in it). Also, while doing my work I accidentally spilled some power steering fluid on the belt which may be causing the belt to slip. I’ve removed the old belt, and sprayed the pulleys with break cleaner. I then scrubbed the pulleys with a mixture of warm water and dawn dish detergent. I’m waiting on everything to dry and I’ll put the new belt on and give it a try.

And you didn't think to mention the Power Steering fluid in your first post?

Just make a note to yourself, we, the collective here, cannot offer any good advice if we don't have all of the facts.

Remove the belt, clean the pulleys then change the belt out with a new one. I had the same exact problem weeks ago because I spilled power steering fluid onto the belt when swapping out the PS pump. I also scrubbed and cleaned the belt, however, power steering fluid appeared to have soaked into a section of the belt which causes slipping, even after the cleaning using simple green.
