2007-08 switch blade keys for 2004-2006 TL
I was thinking about buying the switch-blade keys for my 05TL from ebay. It states that it will work for my 05TL, as well as the Hondas and other Acura models. Does anyone use the switch-blade keys/remote for the 04-06 yrs? Oh, where can I get the keys cut so I can start my car (I think that might be important)? Thanks AZers.

that key would need to be milled to work with 04-06 TL's. milling will cut the grooves required fit our keyholes. CSMENANCE and HEELTOE are both selling blank milled switchblade keys right now.

60 plus shipping or with shipping? heeltoe has a deal /bundle you can get it milled and you send a copy in and they'll take care all of it.. 168 shipped to me was the quote i got..with their acurazinerocks discount... figure id rather spend it on remote start and so forth

yes, the others are correct, you will need to get the key milled to fit your 05, I have a switchblade key and I LOVE it!
if I were you I would buy the one for $60 from ebay and make your way over to www.switchbladekeys.com
this site is run by a guy named Richi who is working with csmeance to mill the keys, there is also a thread about it here. They are the ones who milled my key and it works perfectly. It looks like they are charging much less than heeltoe too, check it out.
If I remember correctly if you buy the new from switchbladekeys.com and have them mill it for you it is like $105. If you send them a blank key for milling it is like $30.
When you get the key back and it has been milled you will need to get it cut and programmed. Make sure you find someone reputable to cut the key though. Trust me you will not want to spend all this money and effort on your key then have someone cut it wrong.....

I got my first switchblade from switchbladekeys.com (group buy last summer), and Tustin Acura cut it wrong, and the key never fully worked. Waste of $120 right there. Make sure you have someone who is adept at cutting keys. The dealers tend to cut your key off of the VIN, which is generally fine, but tracing is more reliable.
Marcus at Heeltoe actually has his own tracer, so when you get them from him, he's the one who's responsible for cutting your key if you request that service. Yeah, he charges a little bit more, but there's more peace of mind knowing that he's actually doing the cutting in front of me and that I can make sure the key fully works before leaving. He actually used to work at the dealership, so he brings tons of experience.

Yeah Marcus is the man, you will have no worries getting your key cut and milled from him Also he sells the key for $60 as well. So need to even go through ebay. Just buy it all from him http://www.heeltoeauto.com/Fastline-...-pr-64771.html

There is a very informative download as well as pics of the FLP key versus the competition. Check it out!

question for you guys - I got my switchblade cut by a dealer and it doesn't work. It looks like they didn't cut the groves deep enough to match the original key. Could this be re-done to get the notches to match better? It seriously just looks as though they didn't take enough off. If I can post pics later I will...

It may just need a retrace. Sometimes it is tought to get the cuts just right because the tolerances between a actual key for your car and a milled key are a little different. This is why we cut keys for people. It is more reliable and if it doesn't work we exchange for free.
As it is, I'd try to have a local shop retrace it. If they can't get it to work we do offer a core-exchange program for getting you a new key and giving you credit for you poorly cut one.
Just out of curiosity, where did you get the switchblade from? Was it one of the Fastline ones?

FLBUSA or something like that used to mill them on here. I took it to a local dealer to get cut and it didn't work. I just found it this morning in my top drawer in my dresser and looked at it again...
I have them with me at work but no camera...

would you be willing to take a crack at re-tracing it? I've really got nothing to lose. If it doesnt work, it doesn't work. As it is it is just an expensive keyfob...

Like I said if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. At least I will have closure. I tried to have the dealer I took it to originally recut it but they refused to even try.

FYI...the valet key is slightly thicker than the main keys. Therefore valet keys cannot open the glovebox. Heeltoe might need the main key for an accurate cut, but I'm not sure. They milled my key for my '06 with no problems.
Good luck.
Good luck.

God...I LOVE the idea of this mod...but am I the only one that thinks it's nuts to spend over $150 on this when all is said and done?
I mean, if you lost a key or need a key then this is the route to go...and Mrheeltoe's one stop shop is the way to go but I just can't seem to push myself over the edge to buy it.

Factory Key:
Milled switchblade key
Now I dont know if you guys can really see it, but the milled key just looks like all the notches arent cut deep enough. Hopefully the arrows help so you can see what I am looking at, but it is clear to me that if the grooves were cut down a bit more on the milled key it would work.

You are going to need to go to the dealer for the programming, sorry to say it!

What a surprise to come home to. A message on my answering maching from Marcus himself. That is top notch customer service coming from a guy who isn't even making any money off me. Just doing me a huge favor and saving me from having to shell out another $130+ to get another switchblade key. You're alright in my book, Marcus. Even if the key doesn't work when I get it back, just you giving me a phone call tells me you are the kind of person I trust and want to do business with. When my cashflow frees up and I am looking for parts, you are going to be my primary source.

dude - it works like a charm. Can't thank you enough! Off to the dealer I go to get it programmed! So glad to have a real spare now!

if they key is not programmed, will it still turn the ignition?
I just got my key cut and it won't fit in my door, but will fit in my ignition, but, it wont turn.
so i'm not sure if the cut is the culprit or is it the imobilizer that's the issue

thanks for the reply markus, i have already submitted the ticket i was wondering if i can get the key retraced after it gets re-milled.
if there is a cost, i'll gladly pay it. ticket id 162.
btw, for some reason when i entered in my web sales order, it kicked me back saying my sales order was incorrect. i had to upload the pictures twice. so i made a duplicate ticket. you can close that one out thanks!

I can't justify to program it at a dealer for $95.

Hey there! I am bumping this mega-old post because we referrals to our site from this thread every month (yes, so many years later this is such a valuable thread for us!), and we want people to know we are still making these keys and happy customers are still buying. In fact we are now selling spare parts for switchblades as well.
So we are very much still in the switchblade game and things are going as good as ever.
Contact us at support@heeltoeauto.com or 949-295-1668 for any inquiry.
