^That's Awesome K20JON, that you were able to drive on original transmission that long! If indeed that is 304K miles.?
You should also post in this thread, regarding mileage and any "large ticket" maintenance items.

I never updated after I wrote that post but I was able to get my tranny back to normal with the amsoil supershift. It was still running strong when I sold it in Sep 2013. It was at 325,000kms. I was way off by saying not to change the fluid since it may blow after. Amsoil supershift really fixed my tranny.

That's good to hear. That's a "normal" viscosity Type F fluid for those wondering.

My tl just hit 304k, it has showed little signs of slipping in the past. On a few occurrences under heavy throttle in drive the engine would rev but doesn't go anywhere.. i assume that is the torque converter slipping. Just 1000 miles ago i just started getting CEL's for the transmission torque converter clutch solenoid, and some sort of transmission control. The transmission still shifts completely normally. That code ended up going away on its own, but it came back shortly after. Then yesterday on the freeway i noticed the rpm's weren't where it should be for the speed and you could smell the transmission. Fluids have been changed 40k miles ago with ams oil. Im not going to wait for any further problems to occur seeing yesterday i felt like i barely made it home. Luckily a buddy who rebuilds my civic transmissions knows a honda automatic transmission specialist and they are going to rebuild and make my trans new for $1500, that is with me handing them the transmission out of my car.. I am very surprised this car made it 304k.. It was a single owner and well taken care of. Engine is still very healthy!

Last Monday I was driving my 2004 TL and I turned a corner, the engine revved to about 5000 RPMs, but the car did not accelerate out of the turn at first. It was as if I hit a patch of ice, but there was warm weather. I thought I must have hit some oil or gravel in the road. About 1 minute later I slowed for traffic, as I accelerated back to 45 mph, the engine revved but the car did not immediately accelerate. Shortly after that, I came to a stop at a red light and the car would not accelerate, leaving me blocking a lane in rush-hour traffic. The car was in Drive, but acted as if it was in Neutral. I changed from Drive to Park and back to Drive, and was able to move into a nearby parking lot. I tried my cell phone but it would not turn on. Given the situation, I tried (successfully) to make it back home to my house which was nearby. At one point, the same problem happened agained. However, turning the car off and back on (and shifting back into Drive) resolved the problem. When the car was not working, it did not matter whether the car was in Drive, or in the sequential shift mode.
After arriving home, the car was towed to the Acura dealership Monday evening. As of this afternoon, the dealer was unable to replicate the problem.
Any ideas or similar problems? I will post an update when the dealer calls.

These stories worry the hell out of me! This is exactly what happened with my 98 V6 Accord shortly before I decided to get rid of it. However, my TL is an 08, and I know the 07-08 tranny is not the same as the 04-06. My 08 currently has 72,800 on the mileage, and I just found out the tranny hasn't been serviced since 35k/3 1/2 years ago. I'm doing a 3x3 drain/fill and keeping my fingers crossed for the best in the long run.

Revving up when going around a corner usually points to a low fluid level.
And the turning the car off and restarting to get it to move for a few more minutes has been going on around here for many years. It's usually when the trans is on it's last leg and the debris from the clutches clogs the internal filter, killing hydraulic pressure. Once you shut it off, all of the crap on the filter falls back into the sump and it works again until it eventually plugs up again.

I had the transmission rebuilt on my 2004 TL last year with about 210,000mi. Went out again a few weeks ago. It was slipping and as the Op stated the engine would rev but the car was not moving forward. That is original reason the tranny was rebuilt. Took it back to transmission shop and they sd it was likely the "sprag". I didn't know what the heck that was so I searched and found the following: http://www.atra.com/bulletins/2009/oct/atb1287.pdf.
Hope this help.

Im having the exact same problem with my 04 TL
I'm having the exact same problem with my 04 TL and can't figure what's doing it. It will act up then I can pull over turn the car off and turn it back on and it will work fine.

Debris in the transmission, pump is sucking it up, stopping fluid flow. Turn off the car, everything drops away from the pump so you can drive again until it clogs back up. Had that happen on my 1990 Accord, transmission was toast.
