1st Gear shift to early

Okay so every time even when I use "slapstick" it shifts out of first gear almost right away unless I stomp on it lol, how can I fix this? Thanks!

I don't understand. if youre in SS it shifts whenever YOU want it too. try resetting the ECU, via unplugging the battery.

1-2 shift is automatic in 06 and earlier. stomp on it and it will hold longer. place in L if you want to stay in 1

Wrong. What you said only applies to 07-08 models.

04-06 models are programmed to automatically up shift from 1st to 2nd

Try what out? How is resetting the ENGINE control unit going to reprogram your transmission shift points?

If you own a 04-06 there's nothing you can do about it besides buying a 6 spd manual

Exactly. One thing I think others are not understanding is holding 1st longer by stomping on it is exactly what it does whether or not you're in manual mode or regular automatic mode. Just wanted to clear that up.

In the winter when I want to keep rpms down and I want to warm the engine and trans up quicker I'll make my short drive to work in manual mode and start off in second. It obviously downshifts on it's own back into 1st once you stop so I bump it back up into 2nd to warm the trans up a little quicker and to keep a steady low rpm load on the engine.

My guess... and it's only a guess.... The reason why they don't want you keeping the trans in 1st gear in the '04-'06 TLs is because of the weaker transmission and it's a lot more prone to breaking mounts. The additional shaft in the later transmissions should make them considerably stronger. First gear can introduce a lot of shock from flooring it, letting off, flooring it again, etc. If you followed the same rules as a manual it wouldn't hurt a thing, like letting off the throttle and getting back on it smoothly in first.
