'08 Type S 6MT impossible to find!!

I have been looking to buy an 08 Type S 6MT but I haven't had any luck. At this point I feel like getting the automatic version but I want to know your inputs. Does the auto disappoint? Should I keep searching for that manual transmission that is nearly impossible to find? I've never had a TL before but I really want one and I just would have liked to get it in the 6 speed manual because supposedly the autos have tranny issues and also because its more fun. Anyone's response is highly welcomed.

Factor in the cost of a 1-way airline ticket and you should have no problem finding a few around the country.

Get of out here with that bullshit. You new guys want these cars for peanuts. If you want a 6mt type-s and if this one is in great condition, you'd be willing to pay top dollar for one. You also negotiate the price, you're not going to pay 22K for this vehicle.

Except for the fact that not a single 07-08 Type-S is listed for more than $18k on AutoTrader.

But okay.

I would wait, but keep in mind that these cars need timing belts and the 6 speed will probably need a clutch if it's worn. For a timing belt and water pump youre looking at 800 and then a new clutch and Flywheel expect to pay 1400 to 1900. So keep that in mind. I'm letting you know now most people with a 6 speed aren't going to sell them unless it has a worn clutch and/or timing belt. I finally gave in and bought one that needed a clutch becuase I waited 7 months and couldn't find one that didn't need anything done. So thats where im at now... figuring out which clutch and Flywheel to go with. Regardless, let me tell you, the 6 speed gives you a completely different experience. I wouldnt even buy the auto.

^I bought one last year with a strong clutch & the timing belt I'll have to do soon, but there are people letting good condition and well maintained examples because despite how great the 3G TL-S is, it is getting old and some people wanna boot for something newer in the end of the day if their finances allow.

If I was a buying man and in need of a short vacation, I'd go to Florida for a few days then take a road trip back with this one:

I found this on craigslist today: 2007 Acura TL Type S, Manual Transmission (Stick Shift), V6, 286 Horsepower, Kinetic Blue, 93,300 miles, $11,500. Not sure how far you are from Falls Church, VA. Probably want to get it inspected before purchase.

kbb prices a 08 TL-S 6mt in excellent condition @ 72k miles for less than $15k private party.. i know type-s 6mt go for slightly more because of how rare they are but who the fuck is willing to pay 7 grand more than it's valued price.. how do you know the owner isnt firm on the price even if he gives a grand or 2 off thats still overpriced like shit.. i guess your the only one willing to throw your money at this great deal

But okay.
What's your point? Like I said, you negotiate the price. IF you want a type-s manual and you searched long enough and that's what you really want, you go for it. The longer you sit around, the better deal pass you by. As these cars have aged and its gotten even harder to find one that's not a rolling dumpster and or salvaged. How's your TL doing? Proves my point, but okay.

I searched ebay. did a 1000 mile search to my zip code. Only 4 manual TL's show up. none of which are a type-s. Again, I will repeat this, if you're set on a very specific vehicle and are willing to travel, the price isn't a problem at that point. I know a lot of members here who wanted a very specific TL, waited and searched to find the right one. Most over paid, but they didn't care. Rockstar just got one of the rarest gems, a KBP TL-S 6MT and bought himself a one way ticket to get the car. No idea on the cost, but i'm sure if he wanted it bad enough to make the flight out, he was willing to pay. Most of the gems are in the north east. Someone out west REALLY wants one, they will pay the cost. Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean others do as well. I waited 6 months to get my TL and that was 9 years ago. I wanted WDP, navi, 6mt and a-spec. At that time I paid 29K for the car, when dealers had them form 30-32K.
Like I mentioned before, the price gets negotiated. If the seller really wants to sell and the buyer is serious, a deal is made quickly.

hahahahahahaha Mint Type S with 6MT for 15k or less... hahahahahaha

Seriously, you cheap a$ses need to quit living in lala land. Doesn't matter if KBB says the car is worth $5. If the model is desired, people will pay what the market demands. Yes, it's an old car. Yes, it probably needs some kind of maintenance. But, it's not like you're buying a car for 20k today, and tomorrow it'll be worth 10k. The value will hold. At this point, they're dropping in price slowly, even though the mileage is climbing.

Want a good lesson? When it comes to desirable Hondas, there is NO such thing as a great deal. In fact, you generally have to overpay for a clean model.

I also don't understand how you can't find a manual Type S. I can find them all over the place, in all kinds of conditions. Gotta pay to play. Next you'll be wondering why you can't find a 2005 NSX for 25k

It really is. And that's why I'll continue buying older cars with stick shifts, until it no longer makes sense to do so.

And at that point, I'll walk into the ocean, and keep walking...

Right, and for DD purposes, I wonder, why does that matter? You must be street racing for pink slips all too often.

For the track, if you want to be as fast as possible, yeah, it makes sense. But otherwise, meh. I'll take the visceral feelings from a comparatively slow shifting 6MT any day of the week, over being a half second faster. Plus, zero skill required. Any dick that can piss instantly thinks they're a race car driver now, because a computer does everything.

I know I'm on the losing end of this debate, but hey, I'm a firm believer in the MT.

It's a DD. I'm stuck in stop and go traffic for half the time my car is on the road really.

Love my manual though. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't have a TL any other way.

Any valuing system such as KBB or CBB for those Canadians out here, is a worthless source for determining value of cars like these that are well sought after...

When I purchased my car, went to go license it & pay the taxes on it, the lady said the tax will depend on the value of the car which was said to be around $7000 - $10500 based on the Ontario gov't's listings. I told her I paid $17k & she thought I'd been had...

As TacoBello said, for desirable and very clean Honda's/Acura's, you will overpay 9 times out of 10.
