08 TL Type-S project car advice

What’s up guys,
so I’m pretty new to this but I have a 2008 Acura TL Type-S. I’ve been looking in to getting a truck but I love my car to much I dont want to get rid of it, I’d rather just turn it into a project car. My main goal is I’d love to throw a turbo in there, but it has 115k on it and I want to see what kind of shape the bottom end is in and how much it can handle. But for right now, I’m going to focus on sound and aesthetics. I would love to change up my exhaust as we can all agree that the stock exhaust is a little to quiet. I dont know exactly what I want to do yet, but what I do know is I dont want the car to sound like a ricer or anything like that. I want it to be a deep rich mean tone when I’m done with it. What would anyone reccomend?? Also I’d love to put some kind of intake in just to give it some kind of love. Other than that I dont really know what else there is to do, which is why I’m here. Any suggestions are welcome. No matter what I do whether it’s looks, sounds, or performance, I like things to be subtle, to seem close to stock but not stock, just the next level. Thanks everybody!!

You'll have better luck searching the 3G part of the forum:
https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...-2004-2008-93/

As far as exhausts go, the best are typically RV-6, XLR8, & ATLP, but I have no idea if these are still being manufactured; I know ATLP used to only build exhausts in batches with there being group buys every couple months. Maybe things have changed, haven't checked in a long time. You can further change up the exhaust noise with pre-cat deletes/hi-flow cats and 3rd cat deletes. The car won't sound raspy like a ricer, but there's a good chance you will get a lot of drone at highway speeds. Intakes are all the same, most people used to do the AEM V2 cold air.

As far as the turbo, last I checked, it's a very pricey route to go down. Looks like it had some super promising gains, but we're talking about people wanting to push 500hp through the front wheels on these cars, and the auto transmissions will get roasted by it, so the car has to be a manual. Used to be a big thread on it when a couple people were doing R&D on it.

Personally,do all the subtle mods you want; drop, wheels, some small cosmetic pieces, intake/exhaust and the car will look nice while still making a great daily. But that's ultimately it. This platform is just very limited and there's so many better options for the power aspect.

Help yourself and do a simple google search followed with "acurazine".
To answer your questions in brief
Best muffler mod for what your looking to achieve is called a stage 3 mod (google it)
Also, our TL's come with a factory intake which is pretty good. An aftermarket intake will hardly give you more HP, but it would probably affect the sound(i'm using my stock one with the above mentioned muffler mod)

If you really are about it, look into Rotrex or Comptech supercharger. They are the only forced induction kits made to fit our cars.

There’s also small scroll twin turbos that can be fabbed to fit the cast exhaust manifold. In the place of the pre-cats.

I'm going to recommend Endless RPM or Tsudo exhaust. The rear muffler baffles in my XLR8 setup rusted out, now it it sounds like and angry house fly.
Also my ETD from XLR8 failed less than a year after installing. Not sure I trust the brand anymore.

After rereading the OP original post I understand. This guy is just like me!!

Bro if you want all that, then just do what I did, buy a turbo kit and then only install the intake!
It will be hella subtle, but you can tell everyone you got a turbo.

Like when I tell everyone I’ve got a stage 3 clutch and when they wonder why it slips like bananas, I tell em its got That much HP!
