'08 DRL's

I was wanting some Purple lights for my DRL's an I see around here that most get the LED bulbs from ijdm toy or other places but i don't really want that, or neither do i want HID's on there. would it look silly or neat??

Here is what I was looking at

Um, I'm guessing the majority will go with "not neat." You want purple drls why? I only ask because an '08 TL is not a '93 Civic.

Well then heres an idea. If you dont want to pay for a quality LED kit, and you already admitted to it being a rice kinda thing, why not just leave them as is? I swear a lot of people feel they always have to mod something even if it means degrading their vehicle lol. IMO installing some goofy colored DRL's degrades the look of your vehicle, not improves it. In my opinion if I was going to change the DRL's on my 08 Type S it would be a high quality 5,000K LED, not a 700,000K smurf bulb. Do it right, or dont do it at all

Just leave them stock and put that money towards something else. Post up a picture of your car and we can tell you where to spend that money

I would vote no on the purple DRL as well. Plus if you use those bulbs you posted, they will not be as bright a purple as you think since the DRL's don't run at full capacity. So they would still be dim. But it's your car so you can do what you want to it, that's just my opinion.

Post pics if you decide to ignore everyone in this thread and go with the purple.

Supposedly their build quality has gotten better over the years but I still wouldn't buy a set.

What do you have done to your car now? Are you lowered? A-Spec?

Lol at your pic Tyler. I had a set of Rotas on my WRX a few years back and they are fine. Obviously if you are going to track your car it's not something I would throw on there, but for normal driving conditions you'll be fine OP. Any reason why you are sticking with the stock size 17's with aftermarket rims?

I got the harness/resistors to allow full power to the fogs from ijdmtoy for about $20. Then, I got a pair of white 68SMD LED bulbs for under $2 from Hong Kong on eBay. A little more expensive than those purple bulbs, but I can guarantee they look infinitely better.

Side note on my cheapo LED bulbs: The bulbs themselves did not feel fragile even though they were so much cheaper, and they have been running great for about 3/4 of a year now with mostly day driving.

I would like 18's but since my car is a DD i don't want to give up comfort or mess with my mgp's. and since i'm waiting after winter to drop my car i don't want to be rubbing tires. and i'm still not sure if i want a spec kit.( oklahoma is rough on any lowered cars so a lip or a spec would be kinda pointless on my DD)

Nowhere has ideal roads for lowered cars with/without lip kits. You just have to manage.

As for 18s, my A-Specs ride great and I haven't noticed any drop in my MPG. I constantly get over 20mpg city and 32 on the highway.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick but if you're so worried about MPG that you don't want to get wheels that are just an inch bigger, you bought the wrong car.

I had a set of 19's on my car and my gas mileage was actually the same as my stock 17's. The stock wheels on this car are actually kinda heavy. 18's are usually your best bet for optimal looks while still maintaining a comfortable ride characteristic. And rubbing tires would only come into play if you are lowered a good amount for them to actually rub. You would just have to pick the right width tire to go with the width you choose for the rim. A lot of people have pulled off 17's though. Having a nice wide rim for a concave look with the 17's will really help. 17x9 is a good start maybe even look into 17x9.5.

My Rota Grids I had on my B16B powered 1995 Civic EX coupe did exactly this in my accident that left me partially paralyzed.

If you can afford to do a build up right, it's better to do nothing at all. As far as 18's. If you keep the total diameter as close to stock and do light weight rims. Your mpg will stay the same. On top of getting better acceleration than stock in first gear due to the fact that your engine has less rotational mass to turn, you're putting more power to the ground.

But to your OP don't do sophomoric stuff like putting colored bulbs in your head lights. Not only is it ricey, it's illegal as its not a DOT approved bulb. Remember those hid "look" halogen bulbs with that rainbow coating on the glass? LOL...

I'm not crazy about mpg's, if i was then i would've bought a tsx. this is my first car that i don't wanna go crazy on or spend too much money on. i wanna keep it simple and easy. love the way it rides, handles and how it looks right now.

in fact i would love this 18 on my TL

$305 for 4 rims, wow, that is unheard of. They are the stock offset of +45 so rubbing wouldn't be an issue.

Just pay the $65. If you keep putting cheap shit on the car and it'll just look tacky as fuck.

Why wouldn't they fit? They are the same bolt pattern 5x114.3 and have the same offset of +45. They are 18x9 which is fine as well.

Posted the wrong link. Should have been for 9006 bulbs, not 9005. Same price though from the same vendor

Even if its a 9006 bulb it still won't fit. The tree is too wide to fit into the actual housing. I know this because I ordered a cheap set of those exact bulbs from Hong Kong and ended up snapping one of them in half trying to shove it in haha

I'm almost certain a purple bulb is illegal.
I was hoping to do red on mine a while back, however KS and TX laws only allow for yellow, amber, or white.
