'07 TL - Factory Service Manual
New to the forum, so I hope I post this in the right place!
I've got an '07 Acura TL base model with 215k miles on it. I've been inspired by YouTube to start maintaining, modifying, and replacing parts myself on this solid machine. I've decided a Factory Service Manual would help me tremendously with troubleshooting and making sure my car is up to lasting 300k+ miles. My only hesitation comes from the cost of the '07-'08 manual - which is around $250+ anywhere I look, And that's assuming its not already out of stock on a website. I don't mind paying the money if it's necessary, but I'm exploring other options before I pull the trigger... this IS the first car I'll ever be attempting anything more than an oil change or adding fluid to.
After doing more research, I realized I can get my hands on an '04 TL FSM for roughly $40-$60. I know they're both 3rd Generation Acura TLs, but does that make the schematics of the car almost indistinguishable? Are there any drastic differences I should be aware of? Or should I just pay the premium for the '07 FSM?
I plan on doing simple maintenance like oil changes, ATF changes, brakes & rotors, etc. I'll also be attempting more advanced modifications like intake/exhaust mods, coilover installations, and other work like spark plug replacement, power steering pump replacement, etc.
The transmission went out at 150k, so there's a brand new tranny in it. I just want to keep this car rollin along for as long as humanly possible, without sinking a ton of money into it. Any and all advice on the subject is welcome. Thanks
