Main bearing bolts leaking

Hey guys, stealership said my main bearing bolts were leaking and want to charge me $541.00 to reseal the Front and Rear Main Bearing Bolts. Is this something I can do, and if so, does anyone know of any how to's or other resoruces that'll help? I did a thread search but didn't find anything. I'm a DIY and usually pretty good with cars and try to do most jobs myself as long as it doesn't involve special tools or skills. I've replaced my motor and trans mounts, PSP pump, Valve gaskets, spark plugs, changed oil, brake fluid, trans fluid etc. Thanks in advance!

FWIW: I'm thinking, you may have mis-understood, the Dealer's diagnosis. Bolts, Cant Leak! There is nothing in them but steel. Perhaps, what they were trying to say is, your front, and rear main oil seals, are leaking. If, that is the case, there is no way, they would only charge $541.00, to repair both! In order to replace the rear main seal, ALONE,. the transmission has to be separated, from the engine! At a minimum, I'm thinking, a Dealer would charge, in the range fo $1,200 to $2000, for the rear main seal alone! The rear main seal, on my 2003 TLS, 240K. leaks, SLIGHTLY. Although, I'm anal, about my car, I wouldn't even consider repairing it, unless, for some reason, the transmission needed to come out! Depending, on how serious the leaks are, You may want to take no action on the rear main, and wait till your next timing belt service, to address the front main seal issue. It would be considerably less expensive, to replace the front main seal, in conjunction with the TB service.

Main bearing bolts leaking? At first I was thinking the dealer maybe was referring to the cap bolts (but idk how they would figure they are "leaking"), but the fact that they said front and rear make me think they were either referring to the engine block bolts or the engine drain bolts themselves. ~$500 to remove, clean, replace, and reseal sounds about right for both engine drain bolts, but until you find out the real reasoning behind it, I'd show them this pic and ask them to point where it's leaking from.

I was just as confused as you guys were when I read it. I was pressed for time when I left so I didn't ask them exactly what they meant, or ask them to show me, like I usually do. Sounds like I need to run by there and ask them to show me or ask what in the hell they're talking about. Thanks for your help guys, and I'll definitely bring the picture too and ask them to point what in the world they're talk about!

I've had an oil leak for a while now, was never really sure where from but they initially said valve cover, and my oil pump and now "main seal bolts". I already replaced the valve covers. It's not pooling or even dripping onto the ground, just dirty on the bottom of the engine.

Rear main oil seal seepage, or minor leaking, is pretty much normal, especially, with a high mileage engine..Generally, it's not a significant issue, other than the mess. The oil pump, on the other hand, can be more serious.

Get the specific diagnosis and then check back here. As mentioned by frankjnjr, some oil seepage is pretty common, but not necessarily a big problem with these cars. How old is the car, how many miles, etc. My 07 has had a very minor oil pump leak for 4 years and over 100,000 miles. Dealer wanted a fortune to fix but since it only lightly coated engine near filter and oil pan, I just left it alone. I never need to add oil and has never been a problem.
