'07-'08 DRL on with headlights?

I did several searches on this to no avail. So, my question, is it possible to have the DRL's stay on with the headlights on? Thanks in advance for any info on this!

I have never wanted to do this but, If you were to remove the signal that tells the drls to turn off when the lights are engaged they would remain on at all times. I don't know if it would be as simple as cutting a wire or if it is ran off the computer. You would need to look at the schematics of the lighting system.

Yeah, this is just one part of my vision for my headlights...I think it will look cool when everything is done!

That makes sense, hopefully some knowledgeable azine member can explain exactly how this would be done.

Thanks for your help.

Of course it can be done.
Well I did it already. Gives me choice of when I want them on
I actually wanna write a DIY on this soon...
All you need is..
OEM halogen bulbs/LED bulbs (if you decide to go with leds)
Relay kit
2 load resistors
Push button switch
Some extra electrical wire

Here is the outcome..

Awesome dude! That looks great and that is exactly what I want to do. I'm planning on going led actually, is that what the relay kit is for? What color are your headlights/leds? Any info you could give me on this would be much appreciated!

My DRL leds are hyper white leds, I think they were like 18 or 24smd, headlights are 8k, and I currently have the switchback leds for my turn signals.

So what you do is...

Install your LED drl bulbs, dont plug in the oem connection into them.

Get 2 load resistors, I got mine from ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Load-Resisto...item231284b3fb

Connect each load resistor into each oem connection, there is no polarity on that. Mount load resistors onto metal surface, they get HOT! These will act as a load for the DRL system, no drl error on dash!!

Get relay kit, I also got mine from ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-JDM-HID-Fu...item2c5c6428d2

Connection Description:
1. Connect to Right led bulb
2.Connect to Left led bulb
3. Battery (+)
4. Ground
5. This will be running to your switch, cut off the female plug, connect the positive wire (usually blue or red) to battery (+), black wire will be for your switch acting as a ground (on/off).

Test the lights, if nothing turns on, reverse the connection on the each bulb coming from relay, sometimes (-) and (+) for bulbs are on different side of the bulb

Thanks a lot pal! Big help, I'm gonna collect all these parts and try my luck at this one. That's a great explanation so as of right now I don't have any questions.

I'll post some pics when I get this done.

Ok thought of some questions. The oem connections won't actually be connected to the drl's? Is it possible to just pull a fuse on the drl's or would that still show the error?

Does this power switch cable operate like an accessory wire? Could I just attach this wire to a fuse to have the DRL's be on 100% of the time? Thanks again.

No they wont be connected to anything, just leave them unplugged. If you pull the DRL fuse you will have an error on dash showing that DRL is out.

Yes you can. So instead of plugging the positive wire to the battery, run that wire to the accessory wire under the steering column (smaller gauge black/red wire, when you turn the key to accessory or on position will have 12v+), and connect the ground wire to ground.
There is also a way to get the 12v to the relay to these wire by splicing up the oem connection... basically right side of oem connection carries negative and left side oem connection carries the positive feed. If you wanna do that just take multimeter find where negative and positive on both oem connection, and use only one wire from each.

You're a wealth of info, pal! Thanks again for all your help on this. I've ordered the harness, and the resistors...now I just need to find some good 5000k 9005 led bulbs...any suggestions? I checked on vled.com and everything is sold out.

Well I got all the parts together yesterday and did the install. Took about an 1.5 hours...would've been quicker but one of the bulbs had to be trimmed to fit. I posted some pics here:

sorry I've been absent from this thread! the install is really straightforward:

Connection Description:
1. Connect to Right led bulb
2.Connect to Left led bulb
3. Battery (+)
4. Ground
5. This will be running to your switch, cut off the female plug, connect the positive wire (usually blue or red) to battery (+), black wire will be for your switch acting as a ground (on/off).
^it really is that simple. it's not necessary to install a switch unless you want to be able to turn on/off.

I actually just picked up one of these harnesses for the auto dim capability:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reduce-CAR-light-LED-DRL-Relay-Harness-Automatic-On-Off-Dimmer-US-STOCK-POST-/191369780885?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c8e871e95&vxp=mtr
once I install I'll report back.

Okay so im picking up TL in a few weeks, and id like to put a mini h1 projector in the DRL section, my question is to achieve this how would i do this Hid setup? use the power and ground from the DRL harness to power the ballast? The goal is to run quad Low beams and high beams. Ive done retrofitting so im experienced enough to do the job, jus the DRL lights and high beams running at the same time are unfamiliar to me as i am coming from a 2003 maxima.

To achieve quad low and high, you would tap your low beam (using a relay harness) into the positive of the existing low beam. You'd then tap the H1's solenoid into the positive of the existing factory bi-xenon solenoid.

I'd forgo the DRL circuit altogether in this case.

So i wouldnt touch the DRL wiring at all, then hmmm well this makes my life so much easier!!! i was over thinking it. this is my first car with factory bixenon projectors. So id need an hid kit with the relay harness and tap that into the low beams, then power and ground into the solenoid wiring just as you suggestedx EXCELLENT! thanks so much, been browsing the forums all afternoon trying to figure this out without making another thread lol Thanks man!!!

Yeah, I think the confusion is typically some cars use the DRL also has a high beam which led to you considering using that circuit, this car doesn't. Although by unplugging the bulb from the DRL socket, you will have a DRL light in your dash, you can either ignore the light or add a resistor on each socket to prevent it, up to you.

yeah because i was thinking okay, if im retrofitting, i could use the DRL as a high beam source, then i realized these cars are bixenon so the low beam is the high beam lol Thats when i got confused, cause imagine, i turn on the low beam and both projectors come on, then i hit the high beams and thats when all four open up, thats the goal. now that i know not to touch the DRL, ill leave whatever stock bulb is in there and zip tie it somewhere in the bay as ill never use them now that i plan on putting an H1 projector in its place!

But then you'll just have some ominious glow in the bumper or engine bay during the day

Load resistors , necessary evil in this scenario.

ill just tell people the bumper is haunted LOLOLOL nah youre right, i dont really mess with load resistors, maybe an audio shop would know what to do regarding that?

Load resistors , necessary evil in this scenario.
I would just pull the drl fuse, but the downside to that is you'll get the drl warning light.

while we've got some headlight talk brewing. Does anyone know the best way to remove the HID projector? Headlight is already cracked and apart. Projector cover and about 5 screws are off? Cant get the last screw and don't know if removing will free the projector. Thanks!
