(((>06 TL Stock TailLights---> 07 TLS Stock TailLights<)))

hello all-
i have a question for anyone who can help me.
i do understand that there are several threads already on this topic,
however, i dont remember seeing the answer to my question.

my situation and question is-
i have a 06 tl with the stock red taillights.
i want the 07 tls stock taillights which are gray and red.
i heard they are, and can use the same LED clusters.
so i guess you would just switch the lens covers?

also, i wanted to know if the screw pattern is the same or will new holes need to be drilled if iam putting new tail lights on?

ps- i also wanted to change the red back side markers to the darker back side markers like the TLS. can this be done w/o taking off the bumper? or does the bumper need to be taken off?

thanks so much for your replys. i do appreciate it.
summer is coming!!!!

The TLS lights are a direct fitment to the current housing. (No additional screws) And no, you dont remove the rear bumper to replace the clear side markers. Good luck.

Also, when changing the rear side markers, all you have to do is unscrew the top net holders, which are by the trunk lift arms in the upper corners, one on each side, just inside of where the arms are. You don't have to take the whole trunk liner down, not even the whole side. Then gently, but firmly pull down the trunk liner to expose the back of the side marker. Take a small screwdriver and push in the tab closest to you that is hooked to the body of the car, ON the side marker. Once you push it in, then that side will swing outward a little. Just push it out gently the rest of the way from there. Unhook it and hook the new one up. Do the same thing on the other side. Before you screw in the trunk liner, make sure it works first by turning on your parking lights. And VOILA! It's as simple as this. I did it the day before yesterday!

iam glad they are a direct fitment.
so it should just be a swap of lenses?

if you dont remove the bumper, how do u remove the old red back side markers?

looking forward to your response.

you have to remove the bumper for the rear tails, and pull back the trunk liner to do up the bolts, so you best bet is to install the sidemarkers at the same time to prevent doing partial double work.

Yeah just the housing swap.. the TLS uses the same lights as the 04-06. The base 07, on the other hand, uses different lights. Darksom told you how to remove the side markers. Re-read his directions - they're pretty thorough. I had my svc tech install mine as I hate doing things myself.

Yeah, that makes sense, but the rear side swap is hardly work. Plus you can get the sides done by yourself if you wanted. You probably, and are advised to have help with the tails. Some people took one side off, did that one, and then the other side. I had mine done by a mech, but I did my own sides in like 15 mins taking my time!

No, you don't. Someone here did it by doing one side at a time and letting the bumper hang down...there were even pics.

wow! thanks guys for ur quick and very knowledgable responses.
i think i may try and do the side markers myself. makes sense taking off the trunk liner and removing the side cargo net holders.....makes total sense now........the tails however, might rqr me to go to the dealer and have them installed. i dont feel comfortable taking off/down the bumber.

reason why i was asking was bec this past weekend i went to my dealer (metro-philly) and they said the (tails) might fit but would probably not line up and new holes would have to be drilled.
i am glad i obtained the real truth to this matter.
u would think the acura dealer would of known....
once again, thanks so much!

i love acurazine!!

dealership people don't know jack!!
someone there even told me the Canadian TLs are different than the US TLs....

made me wanna yell at them!

anyways, I have my 07 TL-S tails sitting around and I'll wait til I get the rear side markers before I install them together. I'll probably gonna wait til I get the aspec rear lip too before I do this. just do them all at once! man....gonna be a while....

Don't goto the dealer. Changing out the tails is not that bad and you don't have to remove the entire bumper. You can do it one side at a time. it's really not that bad. PM if you want some details, but there are a tone of DIYs on here about this specific topic. You can do it!
