'05 TL w/126K @ $11.5k....good deal?
So,
I have been driving a 1992 Toyota camry that now has 197,000K miles on it. I'm looking to spend around $12-13K on a used car.. preferably an Acura. The interior styling of the TL is very appealing to me, so I'm fine with getting an older luxury car that has somewhat high mileage. This car looks super clean, and seems to have had regular required maintenance (the most important being at 105k, correct? It looks like this one had that service at 109k.)
Friends I've talked to seem to think 11-12k for an 8 year old with 100k+ miles is a bad idea. It's a 2 owner car with no accidents reported, but the first owner was "commercial" and really put a lot of miles in a short period.. 38K in 1.5 years. Other than that, carfax looks good.
Thoughts? Is $12k enough to get me into a decent Acura that will run well for at least 4-5 years? I know I could get a newer car with less miles, but it won't be nearly as nice and I'm certain it won't be of the same quality..

Where are you from? Prices can vary by location. Also what are the specifics on the car? Is it a manual, does it have navigation, etc. There are so many things to factor in there is no way I could give you an answer as to whether it is a good deal or not.
As to whether it will last, well it should, but there is always a chance something could go wrong so have some money saved on the side for repairs. My car has 115K on it I plan to drive it til over 200k, I love this car.

initial reaction...it's priced a touch high. no navi...the car better be in immaculate condition and have full maintenance records to justify the market price they are asking. certainly there are better deals to be had. however, like others have said...location, other options on the car, condition, maintenance records, etc would help paint a better picture to justify the value of the vehicle you are considering.

2004 Acura TL
Keep looking around! You will come across many more TLs in better condition and less miles for the price your willing to spend! Don't settle for the first one you find. And I wouldn't recommend buying a car that was once used for a commercial vehicle!!! No telling who and how hard people drove a car that wasn't theirs.

Keep looking unless you can haggle the price down.

I agree that's way over priced for TSX, rather use that 10-13k and pick up the TL. Much roomier, more power, and I like the TL look better then TSX IMO.

What about this one?

Looks like a good deal, especially if I can haggle down to around 10k.. but I will do defer to the experts here

I would say for an 05 with 126K miles I would pay no more than $10K, maybe $10500 if it is in great shape and have all the maintenance records.
The truth is that it will be a good car for the second 100K miles. I'm at 126700 on my 08 and drove 1500 miles in the last week with no issues and got 31 mpg on the highway today. I plan on getting about 100K more miles out of mine. BTW, 38K in 1.5 year is nothing...I'm at 56.5K in 1.5 years. They will hold up but no need to over pay for it.
Where do you live? Maybe we can help you with some deals.

ravi- the 05 with 126k mi was a TSX. the second car he linked is an 05 TL with navi with 115k mi for 11200.
OP-you need to go look at the car before you start haggling over the price of it. otherwise you're just wasting your time and the dealer's time. be forewarned a black car is a PITA to take care of.

I live in Jacksonville, FL. This will be the first car I've purchased without any assistance from my family (other than getting approved for financing lol!)... I don't want to spend more than 10-13k and would LOVE to get an Acura TL... but I don't want to invest in a money-pit, so I realize that getting a car with all the proper service records is a MUST. I'm also somewhat hesitant to get a car with 100K+ miles, but I'm confident in the quality of Japanese cars, particularly Acura's, which seem to have gotten strong reviews from consumer reports, etc. My toyota camry is approaching 200K and it runs great... it's just a 20 year old car and I don't feel very stylish driving it!
My main requirements:
Bluetooth audio OR Aux input
beige Leather and wood trim (more of of a "want"... but the black interior doesn't really do it for me, as I want a luxury look, not sporty..)
