'04 Rear Aspec lip kit vs. Type S rear Aspec lip kit

Hey guys,

First off I have a DMM 04 base TL. I want to make it look more aggressive and I was thinking of putting on the Type S rear Aspec vs. the Base rear Aspec.

I have to get them both painted either way because DMM Base rear aspec was discontinued.

My thoughts:

Base Aspec lip kit:
Pros:
-Easier to install
-Looks fine with stock exhaust
-Possibly flows better with front 04 base Aspec?
Cons:
-Not as aggressive looking

Type S Aspec lip kit:
Pros:
-Looks more aggresive
-Makes my DMM look unique
Cons:
-Harder to install
-Possibly hurts resale value
-require quad tips to make it look the best

I'm open to suggestions
(p.s. I already have the 04 base Aspec kit front and sides but haven't put them on yet)

If you want to get the type s Aspec kit you will need to replace your front bumper to an 07-07 base or type s bumper for the kit to fit, if you don't want to replace your rear bumper you will have to cut the bumper for the type s rear quads to fit

I want just want to only consider the rear.

Either 04 base Aspec or Type S aspec.

The front will be 04 Base Aspec.

I just found this link:
http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=636769

I guess I'll look into the prices of both and see if it's worth it to do the type S rear Aspec.

Do you think the prices will be similar or is it way more for the type S rear Aspec?

OP its your car.

So select whatever you like.

Only you will know how much you can spend and if you are a DIYer.

If it seems to be too difficult for you to do the type s than do the base.

However, if you want that aggressiveness than go for the type s and just install some tips.

get the Type-S rear lip and get a quad exhaust catback or just some tips installed. You'll love it. I had a base lip and factory exhaust for nearly 2 years. Recently just installed Type-S rear lip and got atlp quad exhaust and it made the rear of the car look SO much better.

I've gotten more compliments about my rear lip and atlp quads in 2 weeks than I have gotten about my base a-spec + factory exhaust in 2 years.

Trust me, Type-S rear along with quads is something everyone will notice...

Thanks for the input

I'm going with the Type S rear aspec kit with quad tips.

I see that socal sells 3" and 3.5" quad tips.
You think I should go with the 3.5"?

I have found this thread where he buys truck exhaust tips which look pretty sweet.

I've been having same dilemma as you as far as the rear I have the type s front end but for the rear the type s kit doesn't come in my color so it makes a tougher decision

I ended up settling for the TL-S rear lip. I was hellbent on having the base rear (dident like the type s as much) but when I realized my color (CBP) was discontinued I didn't want to eat the cost of repainting it, so I found a TL-S rear in CBP. Im glad I ended up with the TL-S rear, quads really do look awesome on these cars, its even more pleasing to the eye in person.

It's really pretty easy to make the Type S rear Aspec lip work on your Base. Sawzall would be easiest, but I managed to do it with a Dremel.

3.5 will fit. I'm using ATLP quad exhaust cat back which are 3". I'm perfectly happy with 3" and think they are just perfect. I have yet to see 3.5" in person but if you want the attention 3.5" will definitely catch peoples eyes!

I think they're just tips, TegoTL doesn't have a cat-back listed in his sig for mods.
