That's interesting, most dealers don't control what goes on the website. Acura exercises LOTS of control over the content.

only difference is the "Call us" rather than price |
First sighting. Black RLX in a parking lot coming the other way. Only reason I even noticed were the jewel LED headlights. Have to say, I was pretty underwhelmed. It was easier for me to spot the last gen model.

#3
Saw my 3rd RLX tonight. All I could tell was that it was the Graphite Luster Metallic.
Seeing the new Accords everywhere already. |
Been driving RLX for 2 months in North San Jose / Sunnyvale area. I haven't seen another RLX yet. Kinda of want to see another RLX or another 2014 MDX's jewel eyes.

Alabama to Kansas and back...
Didn't see a single RLX on this trip...
Am suffering major "seller's" remorse for having gotten rid of my 2005 RL with the expectation that the RLX would be in my garage by now. However, I just can't seem to pull the trigger - the desire is just not there with the less than desirable styling, lukewarm performance and plethora of negative reviews. To add insult to injury, they delay introduction of the hybrid model which, unless it gets absolutely phenomenal reviews, will suffer greatly because of the poor reception of the P-AWS model. Something tells me as soon as Consumer Reports reviews the RLX and if Acura is serious about ensuring the RLX's success, it'll have to resort to a "Civician" remake. |
I recommend an extensive test drive for anyone considering this vehicle. Judge for yourself rather than letting "negative" reviews influence you.
|
No offense I drove it for over 45 minutes on highway and side streets and while the car was OK for me, it was nothing special, definitely not worth the $61K price to me. That is not to say it won't be for others, but the FWD was obvious in the ride and the car just did not seem well composed for a $61K car. It felt a tad jittery. Of course the one hug plus is Acura build quality, it seemed extremely well put together. I don't let negative reviews affect me, except when it comes to resale value, since I flip cars every 2-3 years I don't want a car that will be difficult to unload in 3 years. And the project residual value on ALG is horrible for the RLX.

I drove by an Acura dealer this past weekend and they had and RLX outside on display and this thread came to mind.
It has been over a month since I have seen one on the road here in the NYC / Long Island area and to date I have only seen two. If you can believe it, I actually see more Ferrari's and Aston Martin's on the roads in and around the North Shore of Long Island than I do RLX's. I bet anyone familiar with the area would agree with me. |
just checked my dealer inventory and it has shrunk from 5 to 2
maybe I will see one soon |
wow - the Dealer that seems to have been selling the most now has 16 in inventory with 4 Advance and 1 Krel
haven't checked the one in Santa Clara for a while 14 total, 7 Advancel |
The largest Acura dealer in the US is showing 34 in stock: 7 Advance, 2 Krell, 17 Nav, and 8 Tech. Most of the colors are black and gray with 2 silver and one white.
I have yet to see one in the wild here in Northern VA, but for those who live in the region you might want to visit the Tesla showroom in Tysons Corner mall. They have 2 on display, plus one with the body removed showing the motors. |
Saw a gorgeous white RLX today in NYC by Washington Square Park!

^^Beautiful car. I feel sorry for people with nice cars in places like NYC who are forced to parallel park inches from cars in front/behind. When I first started traveling to NYC on business, I wondered why everyone's front plates were mangled. After a couple of days, I learned why. Hope this guy fares a little better.

Since 2005, I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've seen 2 RLs in the same parking lot at the same time. Yesterday, I walk past a restaurant and there are 2 Tesla S's parked at the restaurant.
Still have not seen an RLX |
Saw an loaded RLX on 95S in MA with Dealer plates(dealer swap?) in the fast lane...it was some kind of maroonish color that did not look good(I 've seen it in Black and it looks great)IMO....Whoever was driving it was a left lane bandit and did not move over for anyone....a$$h0le.
|
Well have not seen a RLX, but saw a new MDX yesterday, hard ot miss the jewel LED headlights. Looks nice in person, the DRL level of the jewel headlight looks liek it has a blueish tint to them, could also be the off angle viewing as well.
|
I saw the new MDX yesterday as well. I think it looks smaller than its predecessor, even though I think it is actually bigger. Well done, Acura!
|
The new MDX rocks. :idhitit: if I liked SUVs.
|
Yea the MDX looks great. I like how the front of the RLX looks too.
|
agreed, the jewel eyes on the MDX looks pretty sweet...still waiting to see it on the road on the RLX
|
I still have never seen an RLX on the road but I have seen one MDX and the RLX has been out a lot longer.
|
Saw my first RLX yesterday. I was driving on I-540 in Raleigh, NC near the Hwy 70 intersection and saw a black RLX heading east on I-540. Looked sweet.
Saw a black '14 MDX the day after they went on sale. It came up beside me and I stayed with it trying to get the driver to look my way. I was going to give him a thumbs up from another Acura driver but he was oblivious to my presence. I was really impressed with the MDX. It looks very sharp! |

Still no RLXs. Suspect that will be a unicorn around here, maybe as much so as my 6MT V wagon. I did always love orphaned and/or rare cars. |
The RLX is not a mass produced vehicle so you'll probably see it just as much as you'd see a Audi A8 or Hyundai Equus but more than a Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet lol
|
Broke the record Saturday for most Tesla S's in one outing. Driving to lunch.
Saw 6 Teslas in 15 minutes. ! doesn't count because it is my neighbors, but saw 3 on the road and then 2 more in the parking garage. To top it off, was right behind a Aston Martin Vantage for part of the drive. Still no RLX |
I've seen more MDXs on the road than RLXs and the MDX hasn't even been out a whole month yet.
Honestly, now that I've test-driven the MDX, I see why the P-AWS version of the RLX is not that popular. The new MDX can do almost anything the new RLX can do for less money. The only reasons (in my opinion) to choose RLX over MDX are if: 1) you dislike SUVs, 2) you really like P-AWS. |
I question if they will break 500 units for July. I want to say the RLX is DOA, no way they have any meaningful sales 2 years from now.
|
Acura needs the RLX with SH-AWD ASAP!

True, if they had released the RLX with SH-AWD I probably would have bought one by now. Had they done the SH-SH-AWD by now with say a $65K MSRP for Advance model I would have given that a go.

On Saturday, we drove up to wine country. That entailed driving up 101 from south of SF, through SF, through Marin County and then up to Healdsburg. And, then back again. Obviously a ton of cars, but not one RLX. I still have not seen one on the road.
And now I have 2 neighbors with Tesla S's, with at least 2 others living within 1 mile |
^^^^
Off topic: May I say how jealous I am that you live in the Bay Area? :) I miss it tremendously even after 20 years away. Too bad the wifester won't consider a move. BTW, I do think it's interesting that Tesla is selling far more S' than Acura is RLXs, at least in California. Is there a tax rebate on electrics there? |
ZERO RLX sightings (i see 1G and 2G RLs daily). I've had 4 MDX sightings in the last 2-3 weeks. One was driving right behind me on my commute home...those jewel eyes...dead give away. I know the MDXs are in high demand at the dealers right now. Not sure how the RLX will survive. Hopefully the AWD version will perk up some sales.
I read that the RLX sales numbers for July was over 600 while the MDX was well over 5000 (breaking sales records). i'm sure there were a number fo 2013 sales sprinkled in there, but damn! |
Bob - I believe the Fedral tax break on electrics is still in effect.
I am waiting for the RLX Hybrid, but if it is $70K, I'm really going to have to compare it to the Tesla |

I've seen lots of RLX's in my area. Though my region is a bit of an anomaly. The nearest Infiniti dealership is 270 miles away and the nearest Lexus dealership is 160. No Audi dealerships near me either, thats close to 3 1/2 hours.
Instead, I have Acura, BMW and Mercedes within 10 miles. Consequently if you don't 'go German' its likely an Acura or you take a day trip to buy something else.. Tons of MDX's and RDX's around here too. |

I am waiting for the RLX Hybrid, but if it is $70K, I'm really going to have to compare it to the Tesla I know myself pretty well in this unfortunate car ADD, so I'm doing a lot of paying attention to possible cars. That is why I'm hoping the RLX sport hybrid is the shiz, I loved my RL and would love to replicate the experience, with better mileage. Of course, I can also afford a Tesla Model S and it'd be interesting to lease it for a couple years. We'll see. |
Still have not seen an RLX on the road. I am not convinced that they have ever sold one!
