I came *this close* to picking up a NSX SH-AWD in November, but wanted to get my 1999 NSX into proper shape first for a trade (refreshed EPS....a weeklong job in November turned into a month because of shipping issues), then I drove it with the refreshed EPS (holy shizballs the car steers amazingly now), then winter happened, and now I'm less hot on buying new. I am hoping Acura keeps the 30k "down payment assistance" for a while as I'm sure that will help to move cars.

Actually, Acura was shooting for 800 NSXs per year, but nearly 600 is better than many thought Acura was going to do. NSX owners still have us RLX beta-testers to thank for testing the tech in the real world.

Where did you hear/read 800 units per year? I could've sworn I saw a press release back in the day that said 600.

Here is something to keep in mind. Dealers are provided $50,000 to be distributed across 2 NSX vehicles, however they have the discretion to apply it all to one, or split it in any way they choose between them. So in theory the $176k example I almost pulled the trigger on where I was offered $30k assistance and $11k+ discount could have potentially been $50k and $11k+ discount!

American Honda Reports January Sales Results
Feb 1, 2018 - TORRANCE, Calif.
Honda
Following a record year for Honda trucks, Pilot continued to show its true market strength as improved supplies helped it to a 61.8 percent increase, with HR-V recording a double-digit gain. Civic enjoyed a notable gain for the month, while overall car sales lagged a bit behind January 2017.
"With a strong and fresh product line-up, we're confident in the fundamental competitiveness of our products in their segments," said Henio Arcangeli, Jr., senior vice president of the Automobile Division & general manager of Honda Sales.
Acura
After a strong December — its best month of 2017 — Acura Division sales were relatively flat in January. However, Acura cars bucked the downward trend for luxury sedan sales with a gain of 9.3% for the month.
"Led by the TLX A-Spec, we're pleased to see our efforts with Acura sedans paying off in the face of a challenging market for luxury cars," said Jon Ikeda, vice president & general manager of Acura Sales. "We're looking forward to showing the 2019 RDX Prototype in Chicago next week, as the auto show circuit comes to one of Acura's strongest markets."
- Honda Pilot notches 5th straight monthly gain with 62% jump in January
- Honda HR-V hits new January record as sales climb 10% for the month
- Honda Civic rises 2.8% on heels of all-time annual record
- TLX and RLX lead Acura cars to 9.3 percent gain in January, bucking industry trend

- HR-V set a new January record, gaining a robust 10 percent on sales of 6,259 for the month, continuing as one of the segment's hottest selling vehicles.
- Civic sales were up 2.8 percent in January, while all-new Accord begins to gain momentum with the just-launched national marketing campaign.

I noticed that. Where's the hybrid love?

Three Wheelin'
It is likely that what began as an effort by Honda to promote their "greenness" by listing how many hybrids they are selling turned into a listing of just how FEW hybrids they were selling and so they dropped the practice of differentiating the numbers. The American buying public for the most part seem to be saying "I won't pay a nickel more to get better gas mileage".
When it comes to the RLX, those hybrid resisters are missing out on some pretty amazing performance benefits as well as great gas mileage.

I wonder if Acura's ads linking the Sport Hybrid technology of the RLX to the NSX have begun to pay dividends?? Acura may have to make more than 300 Sport Hybrid RLX's this year and may have to consider dropping the PAWS version altogether (as they've already done in the Canadian market).

IMO... Hybrid or not, people are not against that idea as long as its got the looks, performance and more importantly the price!
I think MDX SH is priced very competitively. RLX SH? not so much.

With almost 40% of the RLXs being hybrid, I’m thinking the 10% price cut had a lot to do with the increase in sales of the hybrid. Maybe now Acura will find room in their marketing to finally begin to promote the Sport Hybrid. This is an encouraging sign that the upcoming model change (2020?) will be a winner.

That's IF they decide to do it. The sedan market is tanking currently. What business case would a large multinational conglomerate have for introducing another slow-selling sedan to its largest market?
I hope the RLX soldiers on for another generation with nicer sheetmetal, competitive features, and a great price, but so far the market has spoken, and the market has chosen.....the MDX. The MDX Sport Hybrid is less expensive and more practical than the RLX Sport Hybrid, and now it even has a better user interface than the purported sedan flagship.

My hope is that the RLX will soldier on as the technology showcase/test bed/flagship sedan of Acura. If the trend towards less fossil fuel use intensifies, then I could see Acura making the rumored Fuel Cell Flagship. There is no shortage of executives that want to be seen as being "green" and driving the ultimate "clean" car to work everyday certainly helps put a little polish on that image. The nice part for performance enthusiasts is that electric motors have been shown to have unlimited potential for performance (see Tesla's offerings). The nice part for Honda/Acura is that the technology is definitely a candidate to trickle down to other models in the line.
Just my two cents.

My biggest problem has always been: Acura simply doesn't treat the RLX as it's "flagship". Period.
2 fairly significant updates and 6-years later, it still lacks the class-leading features of it's competitors in the same vehicle segment (GS, E-series, 5-series, A6, etc). And now even more so with them neglecting to address the much needed Infotainment redesign. Yet it still demands class-leading price when you look at the only model that really matters, which is the Sport-Hybrid / Advanced.
That IMO is the crux of the problem. Heck, even the marketing has gotten 10-times better since Ikeda took helm, but the RLX product strategy itself is still severely broken for being touted as their "flagship" and "pinnacle" of the Acura brand.
Just my two cents.

Why the h*ll Acura still hasn't brought the SH-AWD to the base RLX? I like the refreshed styling and it seems they have the suspension tuned correctly now. I just can't justify spending $45-50K for a FWD "flagship" model.

American Honda Reports February 2018 Sales Results
Mar 1, 2018 - TORRANCE, Calif.
"As supplies of our light-truck offerings continue to grow, we've maintained a strong sales pace, notably with sharp increases to Pilot and HR-V," said Henio Arcangeli Jr., senior vice president of the Automobile Division & general manager of the Honda brand. "We're selling every CR-V we can build and it continues to lead the segment in average transaction price, which demonstrates its true retail demand."
Honda
Based entirely on retail sales, the new Accord performed strongly in a midsize segment that continues to be marked by heavy incentives and fleet sales. Pilot jumped nearly 50 percent in February as Honda's flagship SUV extended its winning streak to 6 straight months. Odyssey sidestepped the recent downward minivan trend, while HR-V moved ahead with a new February record.
Much as they did in January, Acura cars drove against the industry tide with a solid 17.4 percent gain in February.
- Honda HR-V sets new February sales record, gaining 6.9%
- Honda Pilot sales jump 49% in February, its 6th consecutive month of sales gains
- Honda Odyssey bucks minivan market trend as retail sales drive 3.4% increase
- Double-digit gains for TLX, ILX and RLX push Acura cars up 17.4% for the month

PlugIns
Many moons ago I included the BMW 535ih & the Mercedes E400h but they have both been discontinued since.
The other BMW & Volvos are plug-in hybrids which I do not pay much attention to since Acura does not have a product in that segment (same reason I do not really pay attention to diesel sales). Also, hybrid cars puts that as a separate chart. Looking @ that chart I see that Honda now has the Clarity Plug-In, so I will start paying attention to that next month.

"Even as we increase our sales of light trucks to record levels, we remain committed to delivering a balanced lineup of cars and light-truck offerings for our customers," said Henio Arcangeli Jr., senior vice president of the Automobile Division & general manager of Honda sales. BRAND REPORTBRAND REPORT
Sales HighlightsTwo fewer selling days and one less weekend in April 2018 vs. a year ago, impacted Honda car & truck sales like the rest of the auto industry. However, the brand’s core models performed strongly while Odyssey and Pilot were standouts for the month.
- Odyssey posted a robust gain of 21.2% on sales of 8,464 units in April, further strengthening its 2018 sales leadership.
- Pilot sales increased for the 8th straight month, rising 22% on sales of 11,891 units for the month.
- Civic and CR-V sales topped 28,000 in April and Accord crested 21,000, to post strong results for Honda’s core models.
Odyssey is the #1 retail-selling minivan in America in 2018, leading with the lowest incentive spending as well.
The Honda Electrification Initiative just gained another player – the all-new 2018 Accord Hybrid, made in Marysville, Ohio, where the hybrid battery unit also is assembled.
Sales HighlightsLooking forward to the upcoming launch of the all-new 2019 RDX, Acura displayed the still considerable strength of the current RDX as it made a solid gain in April. ILX and RLX also enjoyed sales increases for the month.
- RDX gained 10.8 percent in April on sales of 4,201 units.
- The Acura ILX and RLX sedans also gained sales ground, with ILX up 21.6% and RLX up 61.3% in April.
Acura is strengthening its performance story with A-Spec grades for all core models, including the just-launched 2.4-liter TLX A-Spec, and upcoming RDX and MDX A-Spec models launching this summer.
Since its 2007 debut, the Acura RDX has outsold every compact luxury SUV in America, and is the only one to top 50K sales in each of the past three years.
