Replying to messages

i have 2 Acura vehicles, one RLX 2014 and another one is MDX 2016. When I get the notification of a text message on the screen, I had tried to reply to it via a vehicle info Center but every time is came back as message failed to send.
Any idea on what am I doing wrong?

What phone are you using, because it does not work if you're using an iPhone.

I’m using iPhone... it means that one of the most common phones doesn’t work? Oh wow!

It's very hard for any third party application to comply with iMessage standards, and most iPhone users are not going to disable iMessages to be able to send an insecure SMS type of message.

I don't think we're ever going to be able to send an iMessage in a car.

However...

What I've taken to doing is asking Siri to read my messages. They're read over the car's audio.

Siri will ask if I want to reply.

I tell Siri the reply.

Works fine 100% of the time. :-)

Ok so I tried that and it wasn’t working the way I expected, LOL! Here is a question: once you have a message notification on the display, do you just say “Hey Siri” then wait for Siri to reply and then say Read Message OR do you press the Talk button on the left of the steering wheel and then say hey Siri?
Or you press and hold the button on your iPhone and wait for Siri ?

Ignore NAVI. Don't press any buttons.

Say, "Hey SIRI, read my messages."

SIRI will read the new message and then ask, "Do you want to reply?"
