Ok I give up!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to stop driving all together and hide in my garage. While waiting to pick up my youngest at the bus stop this afternoon at 3:45pm, a very nasty line of thunderstorms blew through, with monster rains and wind.......then the lightening started. A tree about 30 feet to my left on the driver side was struck by lightening. Sparks and ash cinders landed on the car but no damage was sustained. It was crazy how it felt to be that close to lightening. The grandmother in the car next to me I thought had a heart attack as she was freaking out. WTF??????? What is next? Bats, deer, crazy truck accidents and now lightening? God is talking to me.

I think I do! WTF???? It isn't like I am going out of my way to find trouble. What are the odds? I come home from the grovery store and have a colony of bats fly across my path and hit a bunch of them. On another day coming home from getting bagels a deer jumps right over my hood. Then I am running another errand to get fresh pastries for my wife and the truck incident happens. Now today I am stationary and lightening strikes a tree near me? What the hell am I doing wrong here? I'm getting on a plane again in a few days and I am starting to worry that I shouldn't. I'm beginning to think I do have a dark cloud over me. I don't get it.

If you look up and choose to see a dark cloud, you will. Or you can choose to see the clear sky all around the dark cloud.

Once could say you are a very lucky man who:

1) Survived the bat encounter
2) Was missed by a dear leaping in front of the car
3) Saw the awesome power of a lightning strike unhurt and undamaged

Go on holiday with a focus on the positive and you are guaranteed a pleasurable journey.

The best fortune cookie message I ever read was: "Every fortune cookie has both good and bad news. Either you can choose which fortune to accept or you can just eat the damn cookie".

Glass half empty or half full I know. I am a positive minded person as a baseline and treat life struggles with a positive spin where possible, but these experiences are stressing that perspective. Yes I could interpret my experiences as luck rather than doom, but at some point we all want to come inside out of the rain.

Since it's a Japanese car made in Japan, you need a Shinto blessing!

You have to have a huge ego to believe in god and think he cares about you, watches you, and thinks about you all the time.

Religious ppl lol.

Kharma and magic underpants.

Wear same undies for a year without ever changing. It is lucky.

  • I went to a private high school and was the only kid needing financial assistance to attend since just about everyone else came from ridiculously wealthy families
  • I wore Khakis and polo shirts long before they were stylistically popular
  • I enjoyed Pink Floyd and Lennard Skinner music when nobody else did
  • I studied mathematics and followed the stock markets as a kid
  • I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, love my work and am a avid car enthusiast
If any of this basic information means that I have a dark past, I don't get it. I called a friend of mine in Chicago last night who is a spiritually connected guy who spent many years doing research for his PHD on the connection between the mind/body relationship and faith in a religion (how does faith affect the human condition both emotionally and metabolically), for his opinion on why strange things happen to people that seem unexplained. His response was that these experiences are obviously random and the pattern of the incidents seems unconnected to anything I am doing intentionally. Since he knows me and feels that my "spirit" is one of honesty and sincerity in general, he thinks that it is more of a statement of luck as well as mathematically uncorrelated regarding my experiences of late and since nothing bad has come from them, he does not feel that I am doomed for something really terrible to happen. He said that I have made my own luck rather than having been lucky over the years. That is a very significant thing from his research. I told him that I think he is a little cooky, but I appreciate his opinion. He agreed that it is hard for most to grasp this 4th dimension of the world we live in. Some believe there is a god and many don't. But when something terrible happens, and that person says "God help me" regardless of what religion they are affiliated or identify with, it is in that moment that a non-believer suddenly and purely believes that there is a higher power to help them. The metabolic changes in a human in that moment are what he studied. Fascinating I think.

You know, of course, that it is all random and you are fine. And I am sorry this is all happenning to you. But, that being said, one more of these and I am personally coming out there to take that gorgeous car away from you and give you a bicycle!

Just kidding. I'll echo Tampa's words - you've been through a lot of crap and come out of it smelling like a rose.

it's only when you care about something and try and protect it that weird stuff happens (it being the car). next thing you know you become paranoid about the car, driving or parking it anywhere.

yeah...i know that feeling...though your experiences i'd have to say are just straight nuts.
