As more and more of them hit the road, the surveys that Consumer Reports send out will show that the RLX is extremely reliable, just as it shows for other Acura and Honda even if the reviewers don't like the cars.
Acura probably should not have started putting the RLX on the road in the spring of 2013. They should have waited until they were up to full production and they'd worked out some of the kinks.
As it was, they ended up with a very unfortunate situation in which the first couple of thousand cars that were put into the user's hands, the purchasers felt like they were beta testing.
My car's a few thousand in (6,893) and my car's been great. So far.
I guess I have a couple of questions. The oil level has dropped a little bit, which is suspicious for a car that's supposedly at 50% oil life.
And I have on rare occasions that kind of barely perceivable whine that happens sometimes. It's being blamed on an "injection fan" whatever the hell that is. LOL.....
It's not too annoying, but, still.... :-)
It's not an awesome car at anything. It's just...very nice. And I'm sure that in the end it will be seen to be very, very reliable.
You know, Consumer Reports jumped on the anti-4G TL bandwagon with most of the rest of the automotive journalists, and they ended up with a little egg on their faces when the surveys showed over and over again that the 4G TL is one of the most reliable, trouble free cars you could possibly own.
I'm betting that in the end you'll be glad of having an RLX and never spending much money on anything but maintenance.
My own 4G TL had 86,000 hard driven miles on it when I sold it. And not a penny spent on it other than regular maintenance and a set of tires at 65,000 or so.

The RLX has had its share of initial teething issues, but hopefully in time, that will be resolved and the car can redeem itself.

^^ I am not sure whether the RLX is worst than the MDX.....It seems this puppy is having problems of its own.

In the long run or the flip side these guys PROMOTE a manufacture to GET THIS PRODUCT RIGHT. so stop complaining.....i've looked at my 2004 RL on consumer report and you can see exactly what YEAR needed toothing so I use them big time....we all know that the RLX and MDX have their issues and I thank CR for pointing them out so future buyers can enjoy their trouble free product....:thumbsup :
When I hired a company to built my pool/deck/retaining wall I was BLESSED to have the city inspectors halt/point out issues so I don't have to deal with shoddy work years later.....

Who cares what CR thinks? You bought an RLX because you like it. Fugheddaboutit. They didn't like the 2G RL either and most of us here bought one, anyway.

So Far, So Good
I've owned 5 Acuras previously and my new TLX Tech is at the top of the list, with the possible exception of my Legend 5 spd. coupe. I originally leased the car because my 2010 TL lease expired (after a 1 year extension) and was initially disappointed that the timing was off for the TLX. Not disappointed any longer. The RLX is a BIG upgrade.

Regardless of all the negative press, this car for me is fantastic!! Can't believe the mpg you can get with all that available H.P. Three passengers and all their golf gear and still got 33.5 mpg garage to golf course.
Took some curious neighbors for a ride and they were blown away how the car handles curves.
3 months in and have not had any problems at all
