The Blackbird saved my ass again!

The other night while driving home in the rain, I ran into a large deep puddle at about 60 mph I did not see, which for a fraction of a second led the car to hydro plane and drift towards a bridge abutment that was was just a few feet to my left. It was too fast to do anything to attempt to control it manually and what I saw in front of me in the HUD was the hybrid drive shift power all around so quickly it looked like flashes of light as it acted with lightening speed. No mechanical system would respond that fast. The car reacted and countered the motions faster than any human might be able to, short of George on a track. It scared the crap out of me but I was left amazed how it powered through and remained so composed. Thank you Acura and my lucky stars.

I'm glad you're ok my friend! I've gone through this a couple of times with the SH, and both times was on the damn Hutch........

It really is an amazingly capable system! I must thank the extremely smart Honda engineers, for being able to program it this way!

Since we all can't drive like George, this is the next best thing

You know if you drive enough these things are fairly common. Drive trains like ours are invaluable in those situations. I wonder how my old TL would have fared in the same situation with the mechanical SHAWD. I can think of a few places on the Hutch where it is typical for big puddles. I drove the MDX Sport Hybrid in the snow today and it was just as awesome as the RLX Sport Hybrid, with one exception. The snow collecting on the front of the vehicle covered the forward looking sensors and I got a message on the MID that stated something like certain things will not work because they are covered or disabled. Something like that. When I stopped to clean them off, the light turned off. They are very sensitive I guess.

Glad you are ok. We all love driving The Sport Hybrid in normal driving conditions because of the great performance but in emergency situations like yours is where the car really shines. Quite a car, 😋😋

In times of emergencies and extreme conditions, we are all thankful that Honda/Acura are fanatical about engineering automobiles and we learn to forget that the can sometimes suck at marketing them.

Glad it all worked out ok - yet again - RLX-Sport Hybrid.
