Going to make my CBP RLX look like this. Discuss.
I found this image as I was scouring the Internet looking for wheels for my Sport Hybrid. I found this image on CarID's website dedicated to the RLX. I want to make my RLX look like this now:
The wheels I can make happen. I have a thread on that in the Wheels and Tires section.
What I want to know is how to make this grille happen, even if I have to pay to one-off it. CarID only sells the E&G grilles, and not the one in their own image. Is the guy who modded their RLX in this way on this site?

Agree this is a really cool look! But I thought you leased your car so why make the changes unless you plan on keeping it?

I'll have to procure a used RLX grille and find out.....hmmmm....more beta testing....
....or buy the Black Ice E&G mesh grille and find a way to attach the entire Acura logo bar to the top.....
....hmmmm.....
I did. What I'm envisioning is completely reversible, and the wheels I can always sell to someone on this site when the lease is over. I'd keep the original grille to pop back into place. When you look at the E&G grille replacement instructions, the removal of the stock grille is pretty easy.

Three Wheelin'
IIRC, the RLX Sport Hybrid wheels are a unique design that reduces road noise (from the wheels/tires) fairly substantially. For me, changing to a "regular" wheel and living with the extra noise just isn't worth it for a cosmetic change.
The styling of the RLX is generally quite conservative and so making cosmetic changes may result in a conservative looking car with a couple of more stylish parts. I'd be hesitant to make changes based on a picture since we all know that photoshopping, clever picture angles etc. can produce results that aren't always reproducible or "quite the same" in real life.
This is just one old man's opinion.

Enjoying the discussion. Haven't decided to do anything yet.
I saw that picture and immediately started drooling uncontrollably, however. Yes, Photoshop can be a wonderful thing.....it can cause you to dream. The RLX is already a handsome car and is a nice set of wheels away from perfection. Nothing overwrought or VIP, just tastefully done.

Bob, you mentioned in an earlier post your business is leasing the car. I have leased cars through my business then personally bought the lease out when it expired. I then leased the car to my business for another one to three years. It is a good way to extend the use of a car you like while continuing to make its use a business expense. This is a long way of saying, go ahead and modify your car and keep it for a while.

couple of things; the makeup is not grill and wheels only, it includes painting the chrome trim around the windows and the back door. also, if you want an aggressive looking car get the NSX. from what i read it should have a reasonable price. it will also hold most of its value if not appreciate.
ill be in Toronto for a meeting this week and i'm planning to check the auto show while there it is the largest in Canada and will have most of the cars displayed in Detroit. i will check the NSX and report.

I can't imagine that it should be a concern, but remember that the sender/receiver for the CMBS is behind the grill now. I'd be certain that whatever is used for the grill is transparent to radar.

I don't think I'd want my car to stand out that much, necessarily.

I have to admit, I like it that my RLX gets way less attention than my big blue Beastwagon, which attracts thumbs-ups, stares, kudos, and everywhere it goes, along with gas station conversations at most stops.
In my RLX, I might as well be driving an Accord......and some days, even as a "car guy"/"car nerd", that's not a bad thing.
Even so, keeping this in mind for the future. We'll see....

It's a luxury to be able to blast around secondary roads at supra-legal speeds and not worry about drawing undue attention to oneself.
I want an NSX badly, could afford it too, but every time I think about how and when I'd use it, never mind insurance cost, the RLXh just seems like the better option.
Ideally, I'd get both, but I'm afraid the NSX would be relegated to garage queen status, as the RLXh is the more practical ride most of the time.

Updating this thread. When I started this thread months ago, I sent PM to the carID folks asking how that grille was done. I figured it was a nice Photoshop but in the small likelihood it was a real product, or just a very nice custom job, I thought it appropriate to seek it out.
I finally heard back from carID, months later. As I thought, it was a Photoshop job. Too bad! If Acura offered something like that as a dealer-installed add-on, especially with the ability to easily keep the CMBS hardware within, I'm sure it would sell. Still thinking about at least wheels and tint, but I am not in a big hurry to do either for a leased car and may, in fact, not do anything at all. I really like the classy look of the stock RLX as is.

Oh god no.
CarID is like the internet pepboys. Sure, buy an air freshener, a license plate frame, or even HIDs from them. But no one should ever be caught dead buying cosmetic parts from them.

According to CarID, the only thing us tuners want are bright blue lights, black cars, and the same wheel choices for all of them.
God damn who do they pay to make these cookie cutter banners? I wonder if they have a "CarID template" in photoshop that they can apply to any car. hahahaha

Wow, Sorry I did not mean to ask the same question twice 5 months apart. I was just curious since I am thinking about leasing. I did not mean to impose on your SH AWD club.

If I were changing wheels, I'd keep the stock size. The stock 19's and their low profile tires are already at enough risk for problems on road hazards. I will say, though, I've had two CTS-Vs. They came with 40-series (front) and 35-series (rear) tires stock, and in a total of over 70k miles between two Vs, I've not had a blowout from Cleveland (read: BAD, much worse than what you deal with in Houston) road hazards. Luck, I guess....
