Deals on a RLX
Hi I am looking for some help. I am helping my parents who are looking for another acura to replace their Acura TL Type-S. This will be their third acura they owned. They own a 2003 Acura TL-Type S with Nav and a 2004 Acura MDX with a Touring Package. They are looking at getting a Acura RLX with the Advance Package. How much should they be paying for that particular model. They have 3 acura dealers in their local area and I checked the websites of the dealers and only One has RLX's and they have One Brand new 2016 RLX with Advance Package and one 2016 CPO Acura RLX with Advance Package.

They told me it depends if they can deal by paying cash they will go that route but most portably they will go with Finance option since acura seems to have Finance deals.

PAWS or Sport Hybrid? That makes a big difference in the availability of finance deals. In short, the PAWS it's easy to get a deal on, the Sport Hybrid, not so much.

Aim for $10K off sticker on a PAWS Advance model. The 2016s have been out 16 months already. Just be aware not many were built, so inventory may be limited, and that may drive price if they are not flexible on colors.

I agree with Tampa. $10k off sticker is a great place for the PAWS Advance. Enjoy that huge backseat, the Krell, the 360 degree cameras (I wish I had this!), and the even huger trunk (especially compared to the Sport Hybrid).
Good luck!

They are flexible on colors. The only color they don't like is black, they don't want a black interior either. The dealer also has a low millage CPO RLX that is also a 2016 that also has the advance package should they look at that one too. It says it has around 4800 miles on it.

'16 RLX PAWS are scarce. I asked my dealer to look for one to possibly swap out the '14. He could not find a new one in any color in New England. I guess I will wait to see if there is a '17. I also want to drive the new Genesis.

According to AutoTrader there are approximately 70 2016 PAWS Advance, 26 of which are black. Perhaps scan these to see if one is close to your area for a dealer swap or if worth purchasing from that dealer and pick up. A dealer in my area usually has several on the lot, and now only two Advance, one a Black SH and the other a Graphite PAWS. Pickins look thin.
Concerning the CPO, the mileage is low, so it may not be priced much lower than the new model. However, the CPO will come with a warranty actually longer than the factory new. Check the carfax, ask the dealer for maintenance records on the VIN and perhaps the dealer may know the history (i.e. an Acura corporate driver). Only they can decide what value, options and effort is worth it to them. Good Luck.

To second the notion of finding a CPO- that's the way I went with my newly acquired Sport Hybrid. Came to me with 4500 miles on it, additional year or 12k miles for bumper to bumper warranty and complete service history. Like Tampa said it was also verified as an Acura corporate car that was "sold" new to the Acura rep by the dealer I bought it from and came with complete maintenance records and carfax as required by Acura CPO program. All in, I saved about $20k off a 2016 SH advance package. It's worth a look if you or your parents can find one that suits their taste.

You owe it to yourself to drive the new genesis. Rented the new V6 awd (second trim from the top model) a few times and omg it is a true luxury car. The interior quality blew me away.

...and a 2016 is two model years younger than a 2014. Further your words were: "Nothing like that remotely close in Illinois right now"
Sorry for my efforts. You are welcome and Good Luck.

With everything out together, it would be reasonable to expect the American Honda end of it to start at 10 grand off MSRP of a 2016 RLX Advance (PAWS).
You might be able to assume the dealer kicking in some of their money, too. That'd depend on the dealer's position.
The RLX is just one of those cars that isn't going to catch on until people can no longer buy them.
Like the ZDX or TSX Wagon. The man I was speaking with said he gets several requests/month for those but they were impossible to sell when they were being manufactured.
Probably same thing with RLX.

Because the ultimate bargain hunters don't just wait for the end of the model yea anymore, they wait until the car is discontinued. . Now that's patience.
i almost bought a TSX wagon some time ago, but couldn't get over the cargo area being compromised by the shock towers. That really limits what you can carry. Otherwise, it's an awesome car.

Several of the car purchasing sites are showing the value of the 2016 models have actually gone up the last few months. They bottomed in the spring. This is likely due to : 1) There are no more 2016's being built 2) Selection is now limited 3) availability is likely 1 or 2 available at most dealers (USA) if any at all. Simply supply and demand.
Word may have gotten around to the bargain hunter watchers that $10K deals were out there and the supply weened out earlier.

There is no Acura program offering $10K off an RLX PAWS. That is just what the online buying sites were showing and some reports by forum members from dealer interactions. So it is up to the buyer and dealer to negotiate. At this point in time I would aim for $10K. However the longer they wait, the inventory decreases and the likelihood of deals will begin to evaporate. The price rises on the online sites are just a prediction of that. Shop around, with luck you will find a dealer with an RLX in inventory they are dying to get off their books.

comptr, if the 2017 RLX's begin to show up on the lots, then the 2016's will likely see bigger discounts. Right now the 2017's are a mystery when it comes to their arrival and thus the reluctance of the dealers to give their "best deal".

So my parents went to the dealer today, I was also able to go with them and we test drove the RLX. They did not have a advance package car even though their website said they did and they had the keys to it. They could not find either car. So we test drove a Tech Package car and we liked how it drives. We did not talk price but the sales man did say that are willing to take thousands of the sticker price. They did say they would what ever color we wanted if they did not have it in stock via dealer trade. They did say did have one Manager driven RLX that was a advance that was a Graphite Luster Metallic exterior and Ebony Leather Interior. They also told me that they would have the lowest price as their dealer is 45 minutes one way drive for us.

250 2014 SH.
we think about the same for 2016 for SH.
PAWS, I don't know.

I cannot track PAWS models well since there are 3 MYs over 4 calendar years and much overlap with early launches (i.e 2016 MY launched in March of 2015). The VIN #'s typically reset each MY and are not cumulative through the generation.
But for SHs....
Based on VIN #s I have been able to extrapolate:
2014 SH: Approx 250 built. 133 sold in 2014. the remaining 117 sold in 2015 - 2016. No NEW 2014 SHs appear in online inventories at this time.
2016 SH: Highest VIN I can locate is 377. Approx 140 sold in 2015. Approx 140 sold YTD 06/2016. 86 SHs unsold / new appear in online inventory (majority are Black). So if 10 sold this month (July), that would reconcile the 377 VIN.
Also I noticed in the last 6 months of 2015, 140 2016 SHs sold. And in the first 6 months of 2016, 140 2016 SHs sold. That is a steady sales rate for 12 months (approx 23 units / month).

2020 Acura RLX Advance
No photo probably because dealer has had parked out in the street for the past 2 years. LOL!
NYC street parking can be brutal to a car!
When we lived in NY our local repair garage at times had to leave cars double parked under the elevated subway line. If an old rusted rail bolt broke loose while your car was under it, you had a rather unpleasant surprise waiting for you!
My local dealer Pohanka has a real sharp 2016 RLX Pomegranate Pearl with Seacoast leather for a few months now. Advance package. I see it each time I get my RL serviced.

So my parents test drove a few of the competitors and did not like any of them so they decided on the RLX. So I found this car on auto trader is it a good deal: Cars for Sale: Used 2016 Acura RLX in w/ Advance Package, Colma CA: 94014 Details - Sedan - Autotrader ?

The Carfax is weird. So it was sold via auction and is a manufacturer car?
At first glance, though, that looks like a stunning deal on essentially a brand new $60k MSRP car. If the story is really that it's a manufacturer (i.e. Acura owned the car for those 11 miles and did whatever with it) car with that few miles, I'd probably buy it after an inspection.

You say the dealers spoke to each other prior to the auction, but that was after the car arrived in California. The car was originally delivered to a Georgia Dealership. Why would they ship it across country and then send it to auction? If you are willing to pay a few bucks there are very detailed VIN search tools online. BUT if something did happened to the car, and it was never sold to a consumer, those details may not be reported by the dealer. The car has 47 miles and has been in possession of 3 dealers already? Odd.
It is a good price, and very low mileage with CPO, but I expect you could do just as well with a brand new RLX PAWS Advance and not have this mystery tacked on.
