Dealer service SNAFU
Had my '17 RLX Hybrid in for service and a scraped wheel repair. The contract company came to get the wheel to take back to their shop to repair. They used a 1.5 ton jack to lift the car to put stands under it. They used the rear diff as the lift point. This cause a crack in the diff which caused the fluid to leak out. The contract company will pay for the repair, as they should. The price of the part is $11K! Apparently the rear diff is a one piece unit that houses both electric motors and other components. Will take one week to get the part but have a loaner to get me around.

OMG!!!!! They better kiss your ass big time! I'm so sorry they were stupid.

interesting that it cracked.

Idiots. You don't use drivetrain component to jack up a car. Good Lord

WOW! Instead of simply asking someone if it is ok to place a jack under the differential of a very complicated hybrid AWD system (Ahem, HELL NO), this person instead is likely out of a job and his company is out a whole lot of money. You have to fix a lot of scuffed rims to pay for what could end up to be a $15K repair. YIKES
By far the best assistant I ever had was not a really smart girl, BUT she understood her limitations and knew well enough to ASK me if there was anything she wasn't 100% sure about. A rare trait indeed. So sorry you have to go through all of this hassle, miner. |
