cockpit controls on RLX vs BMW
maybe this belongs in Car Talk
virtually all the controls in my RLX are exactly opposite of our BMW (i3, but I think all models are same with respect to controls)
Speed control on RLX is on the right side on Steering wheel; left side on BMW
Entertainment controls on left side Steering wheel on RLX, right side on BMW
Windshield wiper goes up for intermittent on RLX, down on BMW
NAVI zoom rotated clockwise for zoom in on RLX, counterclockwise on BMW
at least the volume control is consistent

You'll even find that the gas cap is on the opposite side in German cars most of the time.

gas cap is easy
most problematic for me is adjusting to the zoom control and windshield washer when I switch cars
Most software tends to follow standards like Cancel Save in the same order. Why not cars?

I understand your frustration. When I drive my wife's Audi I have the same issue. The steering wheel controls are reversed. The volume in the Audi is on the right and the thumb screw on the left controls what appears in the multi info display. It takes me a few minutes to get used to every time I drive the wife's Audi.

If you have driven a 1989 Civic DX, then you can navigate easily in a 2016 RLX Advance.

Drifting
Reminds me of the old Euro motorcycles. Many had shifting on the right, rear brake on the left. It led to some undesirable moments for those jumping straight from a Japanese bike to a Euro mount or vice versa (until virtually all bikes became left shifters).
