Anyone done an extended test in Sport mode?
I'm wondering how much our gas mileage might suffer if we were to run in Sport all the time. I know it will vary by how energetically you drive and how much side street vs. freeway you travel, but if you drive the same way you always do, would it impact your mileage that much over a full tank?
I'm thinking that yes, it's sending more fuel down the pipe, but by the same token you're on the gas a shorter time because you get up to speed quicker.
I like the extra oomph and the way the car just feels so playful in Sport, but I've never kept it on for more than a few minutes at a time. And before I blow through a tank to find out, I'm wondering if someone else has blazed this trail for me ... ?

Your problem is going to be that at moderate cruising speeds, like maybe 45 mph or 55 mph, the car will stay in 5th and you cannot force it into 6th.
To me, it's just not worth it to do it all the time.

Maybe I'll dedicate a tank to it and see how it goes.

Although I appreciate the instant throttle response, staying a gear or two down all the time is generally useless and ends up being more annoying than useful.
There are definitely some curvy places I'll push the Sport button, though.
:-)
Oh, and don't turn off stability control if you're in sport mode, not unless you're ready for action and prepared to counter-steer like an old Mercedes 6.3. It's amusing for short periods.
