I have my '14 RLX Adv in for service and got the '17 MDX Tech for a loaner. This thing rides so much better than my then (Aug '13) Acura flagship automobile; a SUV rides better than the flagship sedan. The suspension is so much better than the POS RLX PAWS suspension that was designed for the SH. I inquired about an SH model, dealer does not have one and closest is 300 miles and not my color of choice. I asked about the cost to own and they would not budge form MSRP since it would be a trade-car and the offer for my trade in RLX Adv with 42K miles was abysmal ($17500). My gripe is the afterthought put into the RLX in the design stage, or lack thereof. I have owned nothing but Hondas and Acuras since 1990 (13 models in 24 yrs). Time to move on to a another brand, I have been misguided one too many times with Acura. Why won't HQ listen to their loyal customers instead of power groups? Acura was once a shining, respected brand but have lost their way the past five years. The MDX was a nice loaner but I am not a SUV guy. Hasta La Vista Acura, I won't Be Back!

The ride of the MDX is much better, I test drove a '17 RLX Sport Hybrid and it rode a lot better then my PWS. There are a lot of dealerships that are selling the Sport Hybrid for under MSRP, you just have to travel far to get it.

Just did a TrueCar quote on a '17 Sport Advance and came up with 62K. So you certainly can get one below MSRP if you have a participating dealer in your area.

There are several 2016s sport advance rlxs going for low 50s. You can also get a cpo less than 1000 miles 17s for same price. Quite a few of them on cargurus.

You need to work with another dealer if you want to buy, then. They just want you to pay top dollar. You'd be better off finding a car in your preferred spec, working out a deal with that dealer, drive out, pick up. Your local will have lost a sale because they didn't want to deal.

I'm kinda near the point of leaving the brand (again) myself, but for other reasons. We'll see how things turn out for me...

Sorry for your bad experience and frustration. In general buying a car the first year after a remodel is not a good idea. I usually do the opposite. I buy the older model that no one wants any more at a steep discount. Buying a car is a big financial decision but it is also an emotional one. Car dealers and salesmen play on your emotions to get your money and force you into an irrational decision. Do your homework and be ready to walk away if you dont like their deal. Acura customer service is inferior to the germans but the cars are more reliable and cost much less to buy and maintain. I bought two accords and just got my 3rd acura. Last two acuras were heavily discounted

Yeppers, I can completely resonate with the OP. It is numbing to drive the RLX as a daily driver. When I rent a car, ANY car, I am amazed at what mediocrity I acquired with the RLX and what I am missing.
It is, regrettable, with sharpened vision of 20/20 hindsight, to realize RLX owners essentially flush 150 C notes down the toilet if purchasing new, even with 'deep discounts'.
This is some valuable insight to those interested in acquiring any used RLX PAWS - the price should start with a 1.
Nor will I return to an Acura or Honda dealer when I purchase another vehicle.

Suspensions are the common beef these days and at least, it sounds like they are getting it right now thankfully on newer models.

So as you can see, I am yet another Kool-Aid drinking Hondaphile. My RLX has been with unreproducible electrical difficulties and is going on its 3rd week in the dealer, for the second time in six months. Lease is up in four months. It's really soured my experience with the RLX, which until November last year had been as solid as granite. So far, the 2017 MDX and TLX I've had as loaners this year have far better damped suspensions than the RLX, so there's certainly hope that Honda will spend some money on Acura. I'm actively looking at moving downmarket to the TLX A-Spec, but funky packaging makes this only a "maybe". Also looking at other brands.

Can Acura really afford to lose the folks who can actually afford its flagship sedan, possibly en masse? Seems they have lost many, given the dismal sales of all variants of the RLX. I'll always have at least one Hondacura product in the garage (NSX or, failing that, another S2000), but they're going to have to work extra-hard to keep my business.

When I picked up my RLX yesterday from a 45K service (I am old school, I still service by mileage), my service rep asked me how I liked the '17 MDX. I preceded to tell him about my dissatisfaction with the RLX. He asked me to wait a few minutes. The owner of the chain of dealerships called me into his office to discuss my 'beef' with Acura - he said this has recently became a common theme and AHC has asked their dealers to reach out more to the customer base for their intimate feedback. He asked me if AHC could contact me for a direct one-on-one conversation and of course I said yes, but to be prepared for a lengthy one, He also mentioned the possibility of being asked to come to CA for the meeting, at their expense 100%. At least I now feel like they may be listening to the masses. I urge all dissatisfied owners to reach out to their dealerships GM for a bit of seat time. Maybe this will at least get the mothership to right itself. BTW, the TLX A-Spec (blue on black) was on the showroom floor and it is a step in the right direction.

My issue with the dealership is I know more about the RLX then they do. When I went in for my transmission problem, I had to tell them about the TSB because they were clueless. They tried to convince me it was normal for the 9 speed transmission to act slow which I proceeded to convince him I have a RLX not a TLX. Then there was the suspension problem which again I had to hold their hands and tell them how they are supposed to fix it. I am pretty sure that most RLX owners are not guy people so they get the shaft by the dealer service department since they themselves know nothing.

I am trusting you will VERY VERY emphatically, yet respectfully, provide your personal views about the brand as well as the trends of the comments on this forum.
Am hoping that Hondacura will realize that even winning the 'most improved award' DOES NOT necessarily mean they move from last place among luxury sedan manufacturers, or gain a place on my list of dealers to visit for my next vehicle.

Would you guys have been as disappointed if you bought the car for less money? I ask because I'm considering buying a used '14 RLX P-AWS Advance for a little under $20k. It has 83k miles but is in good shape.

Wow. That's a great deal! If an early build, as long as no suspension problems, go for it. A test drive is required, though, to ensure the suspension settings are to your likings.

I owned a 2014 RLX PAWS and it was a great vehicle. I traded it at 56K miles for my present 2016 RLX Hybrid. My 2014 never gave me any troubling issues. Great highway fuel economy with typical interstate trips averaging 72 mph seeing 33 mpg.
