I actually like the chrome. Really don't like the wheels and the color. Wheels scream Kia.

What? Wow, go away for a bit and boom a MMC refresh drops. I like it alot although I agree that the chrome on the lower corners front/rear is a bit much. At least they didn't do something similar to the garish versions on the new Civic Si/R (how does that get through design review?). I really like the new grille but the wheels looks a too much Hot Wheels'ish. Gives me hope for the all new version in 2-3 years (that's still happening, right?)!

Drove a 2017 A4 for a week in Cali last week and boy that stop/start (or is it start/stop) was driving me batty! Made me appreciate just how smooth and unobtrusive the SH version is.... my appreciation for this car grows with every drive....

A little OT: Got my first little windshield chip.... Anybody replace their windshields yet? Assuming this is an acoustic type windshield? I can't imagine Safelite carries anything similar and may have to get this at the dealership...... Curious about cost.

there are no information and i'm assuming that this MMC doesn't have new infotainment nor IDS.
but i'm curious about final details.
local acura dealer ripped my front passenger seat as well as rear seat while working on the car somehow.
they gave me loaner for brand new tlx advanced for first 2 weeks then i swapped out for rlx-shawd.
both cars are fantastic but i can't justify spending money on rlx w/ it's outdated infotainment system and how buggy/laggy it is, especially when comparing to updated system on tlx w/ android auto and how responsive the system was.

everyone has different opinion about the design but i absolutely hate how new tlx/mdx/rlx looks and prefer old beak design better except for exposed exhaust in the back.

I got a quarter sized impact on my 2014 with acoustic glass and had to have the windshield replaced. I have an OEM rider and low deductible glass coverage on my insurance policy so I was able to amke a claim and also insist that the original OEM acoustic glass be used. I had Safelite do the replacement with the original OEM acoustic glass which I was shocked they had in stock and ready to go. They did a good job. Be mindful of your rain sensors. Make sure they work as expected afterwards. I had no problem. Also, I received a voucher for my LDW camera to be re-aligned at the dealer afterwards as well and had to do that. The only issue I had was with the trim strips which run vertically along each side of the winshield and go across the roof on top towards the back window. One of these long strips wasn't quite seated and clipped properly at the very back near the back glass and I needed to slide the whole thing just a little bit to get it to re-attach properly and match the other side.

I like the chrome also. I like the MMC, though I agree, the wheels do not suit the car at all.

I have an issue with the tail lights. The shape is very reminiscent of the 2011-2015 Sonata. Not that in itself is that a bad thing. It just seems weird Acura is copying Hyundai these days

I like the interior upgrades a lot. But the more I look at all the chrome accents, the less I like the exterior. Chrome door handles?

Its sexy as hell, glad to Acura show the tail pipes and thinking aggressive with their recent designs. This would make me come back for sure.

If the RLX were sold in large enough volumes, they could perhaps offer a "chrome package" as an option. The chrome look is something that some people love and some people hate, so Acura is walking a fine line making it standard as the only exterior look. The same can be said for wheels - an ideal scenario would be optional wheel choices AND optional tire choices for more of a "made to order" sales program (ala the NSX sales model). Alas, the logistics of such a scenario are complicated and expensive and unlikely without the retail price increasing accordingly.

Regarding the updated look of the 2018, I think they did an ok job considering the underlying car didn't change at all and they just needed to make some cosmetic tweaks where they could. I suspect that they are using this update to try to foreshadow some of the style of the FMC that we'll see in 3+ years.

Just my two cents.

And lowering, non-stock wheels, de-badging, and re-badging (to LEGEND), isn't? Not critiquing . . . . . . . . just saying.

The front end looks very similar to the non a-spec TLX but with out of proportion headlights. I prefer the more streamlined look of the smaller TLX headlights.

I couldn't agree with you more........... It seems this car seems to be struggling with trying to be "everything" ( in a design sense) to everyone's tastes. If the model is intended to be a "flagship" luxury sedan for Acura is seems to miss the mark for me. As others have said wheels look like Civic sport versions etc. etc. Others have tried this approach as a way to save a model platform with less than positive results as the car looses whatever identity it has with its current loyal ownership base. This car doesn't hook me for probably $65K plus?? I hope this isn't the best shot Acura has for the RLX for the next several years......;-( Demosan PS I will give it a kudo for getting back to the exposed exhaust and rear trim detail.

That makes this a mostly cosmetic update depending on your view/requirements. Sad.

Booooooooooo! Hopefully that will change before avilability begins in October-November. C'mon now, Acura, this needs to be in the flagship sedan. Do this for your customers, eh?

I am very much enjoying CarPlay in my TLX. I'd almost give my left nut to have Waze availability, though....but that's an Apple problem, not an Acura problem.

Talking Chrome

I like chrome myself, @ least on dark colored cars. I long wished my 2014 RLX had chrome door handles - I was just 5 years too early I reckon. The only time time I have ever felt a car had too much chrome was on a Buick (LaCrosse, Enclave ... both? Cannot remember) but that thing had chrome everywhere, even around the lights.

The Germans tend to to put chrome on their base/luxury lines & then change it to black for their sport trims, which Acura is starting to do with the TLX. On a side note, I saw a white ILX yesterday with a black spoiler & side molding; both OEM. I assume the owner asked them to order black instead of the matching white. I like the contrast for the most part but black door handles and side mirrors would have made it flow better instead of just the molding on the side.

Overall, I like that Acura is starting to give visual options and I understand the TLX & MDX sell in much larger #s so that is why their MMC was given more effort. The RLX MMC is a step forward but I hope that the FMC makes it more competitive to the Eclass & 5series.

You mentioned the LaCrosse.

It might be that Honda are realising the RLX’s real target in Buick.

I have Waze in 2018 TLX with Android Auto... it lets you select between Google Maps and Waze

You're on drugs. EVERY high end car has chrome on it... unless you pay the additional $1500 to have it blacked out by the manufacturer.

I'm saddened but somehow not surprised. The '09 to '14 TL and MDX has an updated HDD based navigation system with better graphics, but the '09 to '13 flagship RL (MMC) continued to use the old DVD-based navigation system with terrible graphics. Acura somehow has a history of not implementing the latest technology into their flagship sedan, and it sounded like history is about to repeat itself - again. It boggles my mind when the '18 TLX and '18 ILX gets the updated infotainment system with the capacitive touch screen and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, but the flagship RLX and their best selling MDX will not receive this update. Acura is going to lose a lot of customers over this. One of the biggest complaint on Acura from consumers is the infotainment system.

Sounds like a bean counter decision. It boggles the mind. As I keep saying, the new interface in the TLX is amazeballs! Acura done good with it. I hope they change their mind about not offering it in the RLX.

I must not understand what's going on.

There's an iOS version of Waze.

It can be difficult to use or even dangerous to use when you're moving, however.

Honda accord wheels...yuck!!!

I honestly hope they give the RLX some character on the side lines and rear on the FMC. It looks just too boring and I know they want the mature crowd, but geez

They are talking about Apple CarPlay, which will only let you use Apple Maps. It will not allow you (yet), to use Waze or Google maps while the iPhone is connected to CarPlay.

Hope this clears it up....

I don't see either of those things ever happening.

All Google API are unusable because of the insistence on data mining.

Google mail will no longer push, either. iOS 11 disables it because Google insists on incorporating the API, and Apple insists that there is to be no mining of data.

Why would you want to use Google Maps through Apple CarPlay?

^ because Google maps is by far the most superior of all the navigation apps on both iOS and Android platforms. And provides the widest integration with other search functions and capabilities tied to navigation.

Well...it's not happening unless they adhere to Apple's security and privacy guidelines. :-)

I'll see if I can find time to fool with Google Maps to see what you mean.

I have two friends with I Phones. On two separate occasions, we were driving to previously unvisited destinations. In one instance, Apple Maps took us someplace nowhere close or related to where we wanted to go. In the other instance, I had my Android going too. On that occasion, every time we came to a junction, Apple maps wanted to direct us the diametrically wrong way. I took charge, said we're relying on Google, and we arrived just as and when Google said we would. God only knows where Apple maps would have taken us that time.

These last two posts are why I'd want to use Google Maps on my iPhone via CarPlay. Google Maps is dead accurate, almost everywhere I need to go. Apple Maps is not.

At least the 2018 MDX has the new infotainment system, including Apple CarPlay-Android Auto....
