Also...look at the pricing again. The 2018 AWD Tech with Acurawatch was $42,500. The 2019 SHAWD Tech is $42,500 and it includes Acurawatch.

So I don't know what you're talking about here - other than the Advance being more expensive (with a lot more stuff)...the base and tech trims are right where they were last year.
True, if you are comparing MSRP. But, in the real world fully loaded 2018 Advance's are selling for about 40K. The 2019 version seems to be an additional $8000 more or less. That's a big difference!

well except for massive incentives that are gone for a while. Heck Honda has to make up for its lost 100,000 per year of Accord sales which has to hurt.

Honda is making up most of the lost Accord sales on CRV and Civic sales. I don't think many people will be buying RDXs in lieu of Accords.

Cool, I heard about the pricing being all the way to CAD$55k too. So it's pretty much confirmed now. Damn $5k extra from Elite to Platinum. That's a huge sum of money....

Not terribly uncommon when a new generation comes out. I know we looked at 2017 Odyssey’s before the next gen 2018s hit - I’m guessing there was easily a 15-20% jump in selling price from a 2017 to a 2018 model given the prices we were getting for 2017 models.

Also fully loaded models just have a bunch more stuff now so it’s an easier sell - actually Acura might get people who bought 2G Advance models going to a Tech RDX for this 3G given the feature set and relative pricing. I think Acura is aiming the A-Spec and Advance pretty squarely at conquest buyers from BMW, Audi and Mercedes. Sure people will move up - the Advance has a lot of nice stuff - but compared to the pricing of the Germans they are really offering quite a compelling package fully loaded.

Yep. The gutless CRV CVT saves the day. Actually decent overall but that CVT.... Interesting is the demise of the more fuel efficient sedan. The Accord (I own a 2.0T Sport) is an amazing value with great features and build quality. I picked it up for $14,000 less than a base RDX will be (with discounts on Accord). However, the Accord has same engine (yes the same, just tuned for 87 Octane.) The Accord has remote start, it has BSW, it has RCTA which the base RDX treats as a trim level. The profit margin on cross overs is what would be called "huge". Just my opinion on the two types of vehicles. IT makes for great deals on sedans.

Acura once upon a time did actual conquest rebates to lure me away from BMW--that would be a great idea. Audi does it.

Supply and demand in action. Early on high demand relative to ramp up production=why would dealer not demand MSRP if it sells at that?

Seems that if you buy an RDX the first six months you will regret over paying. Can you imagine buying the new Accord when it came out for 1k off and now 5k off is very possible.

Just found my old email negotiations and saw that I got down to a final price of $39.4k for a 2017 Advance in February, 2017. I think it's safe to say I won't get anywhere near that price for an 2019 Advance or Aspec anytime soon (or ever), even after I wait out the last 6 months of my current lease. My USAA car buying service has me at about $49k for a basically loaded (Executive Tier, ventilated seats add on) X3 (xdrive 30i) right now, which is right at the MSRP for the 19 RDX Advance AWD. I'm a 2x former BMW and 2x (and current) Acura owner so these are my top choices. I love just about everything I'm seeing about the new RDX. I'm hoping that by December 2018/January 2019 there are some incentives on the 19 RDX that create some space between pricing on these two vehicles.
