What does your dealership waiting room look like?

I have owned a Hyundai to a Lexus, and the dealership waiting rooms vary quite a lot. The Hyundai dealership was plastic chairs and WW2 desks, and the Lexus dealership was leather chairs, free cookies, fancy coffee, juice, and wifi (free loaner cars also). My Acura dealership tries to be fancy, but rates a B+ imo. One couch, TV, regular coffee, and store bought cookies. How is your dealership and if you have pictures, so much the better.

Wow, very nice. I am a little envious.

My Acura room is nicer than my Honda room, but not as nice as my BMW room was.

The Acura dealership here in Laurel MD was just built within the year and is very modern looking..lots of room, looks pretty spiffy

I really haven't paid much attention to what the insides of dealerships look like since I'm never there very long. I handle everything through email before arriving to pick up my purchase or make a trade - usually in and out in 10-15 minutes.

As far as the service areas go, one of the reasons I've purchased Hondas in the past was to avoid warranty repairs.

I avoid dealers like the plague - If I need to see a vehicle, I'll go look at it while they're closed. I'll take care of minor in-warranty repairs myself to avoid the risk of damage during repair. If a vehicle needed major in-warranty repairs, I'd probably just trade it in.

I buy based on price. I don't care whether the dealership operates out of a tent or looks like the inside of the Abraj Al Bait towers. I'm buying a vehicle - not renting a hotel.

Glass walls, marble floors, food, leather furniture, TV's in bathroom mirrors, day care... Guess who pays for all that stuff?

I go to Acura Laval (Montreal) and I must say their service is top notch. I find the staff is very professional. Extremely clean and they provide coffee/hot chocolate, tea, cookies, fruits, water and very comfortable area to sit and watch tv while using free internet. Not to forget, a beautiful fire place :)

 That could literally be the new Acura tagline.

Acura:
It's that kind of thrill.
Prescription crafted performance.
Trying to be fancy by really just a B+.

Mine looks similar to the Honolulu one posted before. Open area, shiny tile and carpet, a Kurig with like 2 choices of coffee, basket of cookies/crackers, some water bottles. A couple of decent chairs if you don't mind posting up away from the TVs, over by the RDX on display, by the Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree. Free internet and workspaces. Scratchy carwash.

The typical stuff.

I wouldn't know. I avoid the dealer like the plague. It's like what my microbiology instructor said about the hospital - all the worst antibiotic germs are there and that's where people die, so it's best to stay away. The dealer isn't as dramatic. You don't get sick or die. Instead, it's where your wallet gets drained.

I did go 2 years back when I needed the Takata airbag recall and transmission software update. And they tried to sell me on a fuel injector cleaning and coolant system flush while I was there - both of which I know for an absolute fact didn't need to be done.

Acura of Alhambra = garbage. It's a low end dealership at best.

ross7777 02-06-2019 10:49 AM

One of the reasons we didn’t buy an Acura was due to the dealership. Bloomington Acura is combined with Subaru and every time we went in it was a shiteshow.

The wait time for a test drive was horrible and my wife was not happy. Then you look at the service waiting area and it’s just packed with people. Customer service was not great as the sales guy disappeared for quite a while and we had to keep asking for updates.

There are two other dealers in my area but the locations are not convenient.

Frankly, the Hyundai dealership was a much better experience. I don’t know who’s idea it was to combine Acura with Subaru but they need to change it.

The two Acura dealers in my city are pretty decent. Definitely a step up from a typical Honda dealer. Waiting area could be better though. Free coffee, but no snacks.

I purchased my 2012 TSX Special Edition from Simon there! Yes, definitely a low-end dealer and could use a little TLC, but the service I received was top-notch.

My BMW waiting room has an omelette maker in the morning and a panini maker in the afternoon as well as a barista serving free coffee. Tips are encouraged.

spinedoc777 02-07-2019 06:37 PM

Was at the Acura dealer today, wasn't super impressed with their waiting room for a "luxury" auto maker. It was nice and clean, but I've been to much nicer. I rave about my previous Genesis, but their waiting rooms were very Hyundai like, but then again they have not really officially split from Hyundai until this year. Best so far was when I had a MB, very nice waiting room with childcare right next to it for free.

2Blueyam 02-08-2019 09:59 AM

I would rather they give me a basic but comfortable and functional waiting room and took the savings to make sure they can hire and retain the best techs to work on the car.

I don't need a fancy glass palace and expensive Italian leather to sit in. I do need the best techs available to work on my car.
