Ventilated Front Seats - do they work?
Hello....
For those that have ventilated front seats in your 2019 RDX, how well do they work? Does it really make it cooler? What's it feel like when they're turned on?

One of the things (among many things) I really like about my Advance trim are the heated/ventilated seats. I just set them to 'Auto' and let the car make the decision based on ambient temperature - so far it's been for all practical purposes perfect.

Do the work? Of course.
Do they work well? That's subjective.
Honda/Acura's seats are ventilated, not cooled.
Ventilated seats pull ambient temperature air through the seats. If it's 120°F inside your car on a hot, sunny day, you're going to get 120°F air being sucked around your back and bottom. Ventilated seats work best when there's some perspiration due to the effects of evaporative cooling.
Cooled seats push refrigerated air through the seats. If it's 120°F inside your car, you get colder air pushed against your back and bottom. Cooled seats work much better, but are more expensive to implement because they require additional ducting and other components from the HVAC module.

The difference is I understand it is that passive cooling is simply a fan recirculating air into the seats while active cooling has cooled air being pumped through the seats. It makes a huge difference in cooling!
Same with heating is it just a heating element that warms the seat or is their actively heated air being blown through the seats?

I've noticed with my cooled seats with my 11 MDX Adv is it makes a difference how breathable your cloths are for full benefits of cooled seats on your bottom and lower backside. Jean shorts don't feel as cool compared to blended fabric. I've found cooled seats even on +100 degree days take enough of the heat away from your backside where you are not thinking about it. I will never purchase another Acura without cooled seats.

All seat heating is conductive, not convective.

Unfortunatly passive cooling or ventilated seats is just sub-standard. I don’t want hot air being blown on me I want cooled air.

I don't like the "wet pants" feeling I get between the legs from ventilated/cooled seats.

I did, yes. It made my no-no square feel drafty, but I'm skinny and cold-blooded so I get cold easily.

You should try the cooled seats in a Lincoln MKX, I felt like I wet my pants or was sitting on a cold marble seat. Definitely strange but I actually like it. I hate having a sticky wet back so damn much.

It's strange because I'm not normally a sweaty person. I can bust my ass at the gym for 2 hours and barely crack a sweat. But sit in a car with leather seats for more than 30-40 mins and it's just disgusting. I went for a drive with a friend a couple weeks ago and my back was literally soaking wet after the 2 hour drive. So I for one am happy even with the simple passive ventilated seats.
