Trickle Charge & Immobilizer

I won't be driving the 2019 RDX possibly for a few months due to surgery. So yesterday, I installed the quick disconnect cable of a Battery Tender Junior trickle charger but I didn't actually connect the trickle charger itself.

Went to go out this morning but the RDX won't start. Battery power as starter goes for a few seconds but no engine start. Immobilizer light flashes.

I removed the Battery Tender cable from the battery but still no start. Immobilizer light still flashes.

Two hours later the car starts.

Any idea what's going on here?

Thanks

Adding to my question...

Does disconnecting/reconnecting the battery immobilize/disable the vehicle? That may be what I did. If so, how to reset the immobilization or re-enable the vehicle?

Thanks ...

Ahh that adds to the mystery..

Just FYI, you don't need to remove the battery terminals from the car when installing the tender. Keep em there. CHarge up the battery and see if the immobilizer light disappears, when you first reconnect, sometimes the light is still there, may need to just disarm with key.

I just removed the nuts on the battery long enough to attach the tender's quick connect cable. The battery wasn't dead.

So, please say more about 'disarm with key'. Thanks...

Try pressing the unlock. Immobolizer light blinks when the car's computer doesn't recognize the key and thinks you're trying to steal the car so it'll prevent you from starting. When you quickly removed the battery, it may have caused the ECU to go into some odd mode. I'd just try the install again

Ok. It could be that I got in the car just by grabbing the handle until one time I used the key fob to unlock. That was when the tow guy showed up after I called Acura roadside assistance.

So I'll try reinstalling tomorrow in daylight ...

Thanks for your help and I help...

Try your original scenario where it won’t start and then take the key and hold it right up to the start/stop button, this is the method used if the remote battery dies, it may get the immobilizer to not lock you out
