Transmission - N to D/S

Transmission - N to D/S
I coast out of my garage in neutral, once I'm out and still moving I'll select drive (D/S). As the transmission shifts into drive the revs will go up before the transmission gets into gear. Causes quite a jolt.
Anyone else get this?

SMH! The OP asked a simple question. Why he does this does not matter?
I have tried shifting from N to D/S and it won't let me. I have to apply the brake to change to D/S. Are you holding the N button down to engage "car wash mode"?

Good point. My foot might be lightly on the break as I'm move too fast. Next time I go out I'll take note.

It is NOT a manual transmission and should not be treated as such. You never switch from one gear to another on an automatic tranny without first coming to a complete stop. As Madd Dog said...bad habit and you need to stop or you'll be buying a new tranny for your new RDX.

Since when does it what he's doing cause a problem? Please explain how this this is an issue for others? It's an automatic transmission and going from Neutral to Drive while rolling does.... what to the transmission? I am curious to know

leave it in drive or reverse.
when changing any gear D,N,R the car should be at a complete stop to avoid damaging the transmission. I yell at my wife for rolling back in reverse at 5 mph then shifting into drive and you hear a loud bang every time.

Perhaps because when you're in neutral, no gear is applied on the transmission and with you already in motion and trying to go into gear, the computer has to figure out what gear you should be in.. It's like the automatic equivalent of revmatching.

So, when the car is rolling you can shift from N to D/S. Future, I will come to a complete stop.
This is my first automatic.
I've been driving a manual transmission since before I was 16, old habits die hard.
I miss the stick. LOL

Not sure if anyone here knows the answer to this, but on the RDX A-spec I just picked up yesterday for my wife to drive, it seems that if you have the transmission in S, then you put it in reverse, and back into D/S, it defaults to D again, making it necessary to hit the button one more time to go back into S. What’s up with that?
