Swap Out Chrome on Bits on Advance

Anyone think the chrome trim on the front bumper can be swapped out with the black trim from the A-Spec? Would prob have to mean the black pieces are available as a replacement parts from Honda. Can also do the same for the lower side chrome trim on doors. Chrome trim on top of door that go the length of the vehicle probably would be hard to replace. Thoughts?

I'm sure it can be done but it'll cost a pretty penny. And painting these parts is never as good as OEM.

I don't think it is hard to replace... but it will be rather expensive. You'd be better off waiting for some RDXs to hit the junk yard after being wrecked to get the pieces much cheaper.

Also... are you sure you want to start disassembling a brand new vehicle, so soon? Not saying don't... but most people get terrified of the thought!

Was wondering the same thing. Not a fan of the chrome on the new RDX.

Likely yes, but you'd still have to remove all the pieces. I'm not sure how the chrome trim near the bottom of the door is attached. It's either just glued in place, or bolted through the door (meaning you'd have to take the interior door panel off, as well as the vapor barrier behind it), or maybe even glue and bolts. Who knows at this point.

Either way, to take all those trim pieces off will require a good amount of disassembly. It's definitely doable. I believe the chrome around the windows can only be taken off once you remove the interior door panel. You might even have to remove the window glass. It's hard to tell until we get a copy of the factory service manual to see what is required.

Plastidip is okay but it has to be redone regularly. The stuff just doesn't age well and looks like crap soon after prolonged UV exposure.

lol i was thinking about plastidip too. I did white on my wheels before but boy they get dirty so damn quickly. But black may be better at hiding imperfections.....

Most of the pieces are located near the bottom of the car, so even if they dont look good, it's not as noticeable....hopefully?

Yes, vinyl wrap is probably the best option for the chrome trim. I've never had it done, but I understand it's quite reasonable. And it's removable. Wheels can be powder coated affordably - $75 to $100 a piece, or you can just store the factory wheels until it's time to trade and go to the aftermarket.

Plasti-Dip is okay if you have a 10-year old Civic, but I wouldn't do it on a new $40k car.

I have a set of rims already on my 2007 RDX. Just checked and they fit the new RDX too. Even the tires are the same size lol. So it's just the chrome bit that I have to worry about....and the tail lights...and the rear diffuser....
