I have never seen a review from this person. It is a fairly thorough review. He never mentioned which package he was reviewing, other than it had SH-AWD, unless I missed it.

I disagree with his comments on the true-touch pad, however. Did this guy do a review on a Lexus with their awful touch pad/cursor? Just try to use that one while driving. Enough said.

Thanks for posting this review. I enjoyed it.

One point he made that I 100% agree with is a 10-speed trans is a bit much for this platform. The engine has more than enough torque/hp that an 8-speed (or maybe even a 7-speed) would make for a less 'busy' driving experience without having a significant, or any, downside on performance - although it may have a slight impact on mileage. This is something I mentioned to my sales rep on the first test drive.

It's an Advance based on the wood trim, HUD, and price.

White LEDs in my Advance. I think he has external blue lighting to get that effect in his shop. Don't think this has the stock Advance wheels on it either. I find the outside exterior/interior shots he used could use better lighting overall.

I think you're right. I thought it was new ambient lighting and I got excited.

Good review overall, but no mention of the navigation shortcomings (no ability to manually zoom, no address book, etc...)

Right, I knew which package it was, it's just that he didn't mention it...most other video reviews I have seen mention this, and the differences between the available "packages". I guess this was my point.

I think it's an Advanced. However those wheels aren't standard on the Advance trim. The stock wheels are very plain. Those look like 20 inch wheels that one sees on the A-Spec. If the Advance came with wheels like this I probably would have picked it in black over my A Spec RDX.

I believe these are the Tech 19's painted black.

I have them on my MDX:

This is Savage Geese, I've seen MANY of his reviews. He's actually one of my favorites. He's very thorough and more than that he's also very fair and unbiased. He also tends to throw in a little bit of dry humor which I appreciate.

This is definitely an advanced packaged RDX but those are not A-Spec wheels. Those are accessory 20" wheels. IMO these look good but the A-Sepc wheels look the best. Definitely better than any wheels Acura or Honda has made in at least a decade. Unfortunately these accessory wheels cost like $3500!!! So not an affordable update by Acura standards.

Wheels are the 19" glint black alloy wheels that are shown as a $2,000 option on the build page. Notice more Advance reviews using accessory wheels now. Acura seems to have gotten the hint that stock Advance wheels are horrendous.

I watch his reviews and he is pretty well known.

But this was his best car review...In terms of production cost details and attention to detail = Amazing!

I can't wait for TLX with similar features.

I enjoyed the review also JB but did you notice the oil sample bottle at 3:30 in the video, what's up with that? Maybe I've just been reading the CRV forum too much but was that some kind of under the radar dig at Honda or something?

Whoops sorry thought they were 20's. I recall someone saying they were $3500. Canadian prices maybe?

Ok so I now see what my mistake was. These wheels are $2700 here in Canada and they have a wheel that goes for a whopping $3900!!!!!!!!!! I've never seen this wheel before.

I did notice that too lol. He's very tongue in cheek like that. It is definitely is a dig at Honda for the 1.5T oil dilution problems. But I'm surprised he never said anything about it.

Anyone concerned about rusting? From the video, I can see a few parts of the undercarriage seems to be rusting already. I think he always half jokingly mentioned the knuckle is already rusting at 14:55. What are other part seems to have rust on them? Will this be a problem long term? Thanks!

There are some parts under there that are not painted and do have a layer of rust on them. I saw the same thing in past Acuras too. I was told by Acura's service department that there is nothing to worry about with those particular parts..

The rust is usually a micro layer thick on parts like those. Think about it in terms of your brake rotors rusting when you wash the car and don't drive it after. It's just surface rust and totally normal. Won't damage anything or go very deep.

Acura really hasn't made many good cars in the last 15 years, so I can't say he's wrong.

From what I saw, it's just surface rust. Happens to every car that gets driven on salty roads. I wouldn't worry too much about it...

go to a dealer (any brand) and look under a new car that has been on the lot awhile, every car will get this, especially if you live in the rust belt or near the ocean, it’s normal

I like this review quite a bit. Very detailed and covering stuff such as rev match and suspension details. His comments on the touchpad are not far off but just like other interface out there, you get used to it.

I have been an Acura fan since the Legends and Integras, I agree that this RDX is one of the best vehicle they have put out in a long time.

He is not the first one saying that...one of my buddies is looking for a suv and he tested a few vehicles and he told me that RDX is definitely in his top 3.

Oof, very valid point. I do love the new NSX....
...same year though! lol

I wouldn't mind a non-hybrid rear-wheel drive one though........

NO, I hadn't noticed it, but on viewing it again...WOW! LOL Very subtle, an oil sample bottle with the words "Fuel Dilution?" on it. Best "Easter egg" ever! Of course, no one in their right mind would put a bottle with a dirty used oil sample in the console of their new RDX, but it is an obvious reference to Honda's 1.5L, which BTW was what I traded in for the RDX. FWIW, in 15,500 miles I never had any gas smell or rising oil levels.

Hmm, next time I am thinking about a new car, I will look for his reviews! I have seen "Alex on Autos", and Redline, and a few others, but this is the first I've seen of Savage Geese.

My older brother has owned all three generations of the RDX. Hands down he says this is the best, but considering the price it could and should be better. Believe it or not, he buys his cars based on the sound systems more than anything else. I buy mine based on looks and engine options.

Sadly still on the fence. I got some time though...since I didn't really plan on getting a new vehicle til after summer. Or maybe I can wait and hope that the next years model will have folding mirrors and better wheels for the Advance trim.

But it's the first good effort Acura has made in 5-10 years... It may be better becsuse it's more modern, but compared to what Acuta was producing from 2003-2008, it isn't as cutting edge, but still better than almost everything else...

if the decision is based on sound system, then he should def buy the 2019 RDX. There is nothing else better than the 16 speaker ELS 3D surround system in this price range (+-10k)
