Red gauges on A-Spec

I test-drove the RDX A-spec and Advance last week and absolutely loved the look of the A-spec! The only think I don't like about the A-spec are the red gauges. Against the white background, I could barely read the gauges . I noticed in some videos that the background on the gauges is black--is that because the headlights are on or because some models have red on black instead of red on white gauges? Another option would be to install a digital speedometer--has anyone done this? Thanks!

Mine are silver backgrounds but look black at night due to the darkness

I like the red gauges, much nicer than the TSX ASpec's red gauges. What I do not like is the suede inserts in the dash and seats.

I find That if you keep the dash brightness level at the highest setting the gauges are easier to read during the day/night. I would prefer the digital readout of the higher trim level but I had to have the A-Spec. No comparison for me...

I had my 2016 at the dealer a few weeks ago to get the battery replaced under warranty and test a drove an A-Spec while I was waiting. The 2019 is a step up in most every area over the previous gen. but I found the red gauges of the A-Spec very difficult to read in the daytime. I didn't play with the brightness which might have helped.

Ended up getting the Advance

Thanks everyone for the info. Good to know that increasing the brightness can help with the red gauges. Just to close the loop, I am closing on a metallic steel Advance trim tomorrow. I realized I can gradually mod am Advance into an A-Spec, but not vice versa .

This is the way to do it. Get the top trim and do the cosmetic stuff and I would argue that the top trim with A-Spec wheels will outhandle an A-Spec in sport mode adaptive suspension settings. This is what I'm going to do if a Type-S model is not out by the refresh.

I worry that the suede will stretch over time. This has happened to me with shoes and now the shoes are too loose to wear.

I have a 2018 TLX A-Spec with the alcantera inserts, The car is almost 2 years old and the seats still look like new. I suspect the the RDX A-SPec I have will look just as good over time.

I agree. The seats in my A-Spec are 5 months old now and they look like the day I bought the car👍

Remember Alcantara is not Suede and will likely wear better. I've had my car for only 3 + months, so can't confirm wear (although they look great), but they are exceptionally comfortable and much appreciated on a very cold or very hot day.
