RDX SH-AWD, Tech & Advanced Pkg

The wife and I test drove one yesterday, she absolutely loved it and I liked it as well. She had always wanted a 4Runner, so we started there. Hated them, even the Limited felt cheap, outdated, and not comfortable (I daily a 2016 F150). Next up was the Pilot Elite, which we loved, but did not like the exterior design. We also tested an Explorer and a Tahoe. Ultimately she wants a Tahoe, but the trim we want is outside our price range right now. I suggested we take a look at the Acuras, I knew the RDX had a redesign, but I assumed she would rather get an MDX. After test driving the RDX, she didn't care about the MDX. So, we're likely going to be getting a White Diamond Pearl RDX SH-AWD with the Tech and Advanced packages, with ebony interior. Really want to take advantage of the 2.9% financing, so looks like we might be getting it next weekend.

Lot of different class vehicles there. How do you get from the size and construction of a body-on-frame "truck" like a Tahoe to a luxury-performance CUV like the RDX?

Not sure I get the question. It is possible to enjoy two different classes of vehicles. They fit two different niches, currently we don't need a large capacity SUV, nor can we afford the $70k+ price tag of a Tahoe Premier without making lifestyle changes. Seeing as we don't have kids yet and don't need the space, its an easy decision to make.

As for making the decision for an RDX, my dad has worked for Honda Mfg for 20+ years, we've owned a multitude of them over that time. Ignoring the quality aspect, strictly speaking from a price to feature ratio Honda/Acura are ahead of options like the Explorer, which was the same price as a Pilot Elite, but it lacked the 4WD (therefore making the Pilot a better buy). Since neither one of us was particularly keen on the new design, we waited, which is why I mentioned looking at an Acura.

No kids yeat? Get a CR-v, and invest the extra cash. You’re gonna need it if kids are in the plan.

I got my RDX Platinum Elite recently.. yes the Canadian version of the advance package with folding mirror. Love the car and I am glad that I settled for this package instead of the A spec that I originally set my eyes on. The adaptive damper system and the HUD are the two key features that changed my mind when I test drive the second time after the A spec.. The ride was more comfortable and the HUD is very useful.

Great choice, especially compared to some of those others. Minor point: white diamond pearl was discontinued after 2019. If that's what you are looking at, it's last year's car. The 2020 RDX has platinum white pearl, which is more blueish. Nice color, that's what I have.

Yes, Acura’s red is very cool. Probably my second favorite, following Mazda’s red.

I wish there had been a red available when I was buying. None to be found within a three state area. Oh well, I still LOVE my WDX.
(If it was red it would be a real RDX.)

Red rocks! I get frequent compliments. I waited 8 weeks to get mine, ditto no inventory in wide area.

Holy crap why did this year old thread get resurrected? The OP actually ended up getting an MDX after all.

Well considering they were primarily looking at 3-row SUVs and crossovers, and that they loved the Pilot other than the exterior style, I'd say they probably made the right decision going with the MDX...

Where do you live that dealerships are still open? Aren't most closed because they don't meet the definition of essential business?

In NY, auto service businesses are essential, so the service area is open. I don’t know about sales.

Here in Louisville, KY our Acura dealer is open with some modifications.
Showroom is closed but they are available by phone and will take care of customers.
Service and parts are open with reduced hours six days a week. Currently running something like 8AM to 5PM daily. (Normally open at like 7AM to 7PM or something.)
