Bought the wife an RDX FWD A-Spec in Modern Steel Metallic/Red on Saturday. MSRP was $44,495 including destination and sticker was $45,149 (dealer installed extras including tint, wheel locks, and nitrogen). The only discount I got was the $1000 loyalty and I thought it was a horrible deal. Then they gave me an offer for my trade that I can't refuse. I asked for the all weather mats, cargo tray, and 2 oil change to be included to sweeten the deal. In the end, I got a price I was happy with after my trade and the wife loved the red interior.

I have read about some pretty good deals obtained through the Costco program so I tried the Sam's Club Auto Buying program because we belong to Sam's Club. The local dealer offered a whole $500 off MSRP. I'm trying not to take it personally.

Sale price $40,900 + (tax + doc fee + registration). OTD price is $44,117

Do you guys think if it is a reasonable price?

That's really good, I bought at $1500 under MSRP two weeks ago without a trade. Do it, I love my Tech w/ SH AWD.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. I never really heard an offer that was above invoice when I've looked at Acuras. There were always below invoice. I never really tried looking when a new model was released though since I figure they need to make their profit on the early adopters.

Thank you. Very good price but Boston is a little out of my range since I'm in NC. My last two cars were purchased in Jacksonville, FL so I'm willing to travel. I just make a vacation trip out of it. Looks like I may have to go north to get AWD and a deal.

Just a quick public shout out to securityguy, he hooked me up with his Jacksonville, FL Duval guy, picked up a fathom blue advanced for the deal he got mentioned above on saturday. Much better deal than I was able to get in the ATL market. You would think having 4 dealerships in north atlanta, that there would be some sort of deals to be had. I guess they just want to stock up on their vehicles.

I mentioned before that I was able to get $3,000 off MSRP for an ASPEC AWD in New Jersey but it is almost three hours away. I got my local dealership to go $2,800 and throw in the weather mats...put my deposit down for the White with Red interior. Now it’s waiting game for them to get it in stock.

How does everyone get such great offers? Here in the bay area, the dealers aren't budging more than $500-$1000 off MSRP. I guess it doesn't help that there is only 1 RDX within 500 miles of me that has the color and options I'm looking for.

Its regional. I know that in NJ I can get 10% off MSRP come winter time.

I went to truecar.com, for zip code 07044, it shows that 3 people got advanced for 6.57% under msrp, and 3 more got for 5.44% under.
and check it out, 2 people say that they got under 7.7%.
so you can see where market is... in NJ, DCH acura dealer, if you negotiate well over the phone, 5% should be easy, pergaps even 6%, and we are in september. Wait until nov or jan, and you get into 9-10%

Yep you are on your way. If only I clould have waited but I enjoy mine now so that makes up for the extra $2000 I had to pay. I will be watching and waiting to see what happens at the end of the year.

My area is tough for the buyer per TrueCar. The lowest reported deal for an Advance in my zip code paid between $47,400 and $47,600, only a grand or less off sticker. And the market average is $300 above MSRP (I assume due to accessories).

see if you can get a better deal in 1-2 hour driving radius. Things get less complicated without trade in. If you call to remote dealership, you can buy over the phone (maybe give CC deposit). Sometimes remote dealers want to attract you, so they know they have to beat your local dealer....

That's what I did, San Diego Local dealers were telling me that the cars were not being discounted nor was the car I wanted available. I emailed Sales Managers from Orange County to LA County seeing who was willing to entertain my offer and in my case, I located the exact model 2 and 1/2 hours away and completed all negotiations via email. No trade was involved which made it easier to get in and out when I picked up the RDX. I had mixed reviews, but one Sales Manager was helpful and offered me an in stock vehicle at the discount I was looking for but it wasn't the right model/color so I passed, he did offer to let me know when the right vehicle was inbound...

they really stick it up to you guys in SoCal, expensive houses, cost of living, cars.... at least you get to have good weather and not our sh%$ storms 😀

Yep, it's a shame but as I see it the local dealers will only see my car for warranty repairs as I'll do my own oil changes and have a local wrench to do the things I shouldn't do. Cheers!

This is a great thread but unless people consistently report other information such as accessories and especially trade-in, it is almost useless. A dealer will give you a great price on a car if they sell you a ton of accessories at MSRP, or even better if they lowball the trade in. A recently read a thread somewhere (maybe not even on Acurazine) about a guy who got well below MSRP, but he had about $3000 in accessories! I am pretty sure the dealer did ok on that transaction.
Of course regional variations and inventory also make a huge difference.
I am going to try to hold out until next summer if my current ride makes it.

In San Diego it was worse zero discount quoted at local dealers about 3 weeks ago; color/model availability same as what you are experiencing I went about 2 1/12 hours north to make the purchase. I ended up with a $1,500 under MSRP; initially was quoted $1K but prior military service got me the additional $500 as well as the $750 incentive from Acura Financial with the loan. No accessories or trade in involved. I did receive a quote at $2K under for a car in stock but not the desired color/model.

You should find a dealer in Virginia/Maryland who has a bunch of Tech/AWD in stock and they will make a deal. The dealers in NC are low in stock on AWD and hence are giving much better deals on FWD...

I appreciate the suggestion. What's the most efficient way to determine the inventory at various dealers? The Acura website, or something else?
