Park sensor malfunction

On the way into work this morning, I heard a “ding” and looked down to see an error on the mid display indicating a parking sensor system malfunction. It would go away when the rdx was moving, to reappear next time I slowed down. I figured it may just need a shut down / restart cycle.

At lunchtime the warning came up immediately and stayed on constantly, and the same on the way home from work this evening.

I guess I have to make my first service appointment for the rdx... anyone else have this issue?

How dirty is the vehicle? If the sensors get covered with 'road crud' it can cause those symptoms.

Page 497 of the OM:

The system may not work properly when:
• The sensors are covered with snow, ice, mud or
dirt.
• The vehicle is on uneven surface, such as grass,
bumps, or a hill.
• The vehicle has been out in hot or cold weather.
• The system is affected by devices that emit
ultrasonic waves.
• Driving in bad weather.

Thanks for the response. Those are the kind of things that I would expect. But the car is cleanish, and it has been much dirtier previously with no problems. And while this has been about as cold as it has been since I got it, -12C isn’t really all that cold. It is -18C now and scheduled for mid -20s tomorrow.

Are they covered in snow? It looks like it's snowing in your pic.

Ya. Grab some auto cleaner spray and give those sensors a good wipe down. It might just save you a trip to the dealership (unless you like free coffee or muffins). It's probably the first thing the tech will do anyways.

They might have a slight skiff of snow yesterday after work, but it is garaged and was still not working when I went out this morning. I will try “cleaning” them but like I said the car is clean ish.

Just went out and wiped them off and no difference. Still showing park sensor system error.

It's possible that one of the sensor harnesses disconnected somehow on a bump. Let us know how it goes.

Took the rdx into the dealership, and one of the front sensors failed and failed a test. They have ordered a new sensor which should be in tomorrow.

Wasn't expecting it to have failed so soon. Must have just been faulty!
