Noise-reducing wheels

The quieter the better! This Technology should be on every car if it works. I still cant believe Acura/Honda(as others also do) makes you listen to ARTIFICIAL ENGINE SOUND BEING REPLICATED BY THE SPEAKERS IN THE CABIN. All WE ASK FOR IS THE ABILITY TO HAVE THE CHOICE TO TURN IT ON OR OFF, But I digress.

I have no idea why anyone thought that it is a good idea to pipe in fake engine noise into the cabin. SMMFH!

And stay off instead of defaulting back to on.. like the MID will not remember last display or Auto-Stop off (old argument and will not change)

Interesting. Some Teslas have foam inside the tires, glued to the rim to quell tire noise.

Wheels not tires. Thought Honda got into the tire business for a sec.

Those wheels are on the upper trim levels of the Accord. Are they on the RDX too?

I think the part number is Control Unit, Active Noise - Acura (39200-TJB-A21)
but, like with any part or accessory for the 2019 RDX, the dealers don't have their catalog updated so no images or location is available.
The fix for the TLX is to just remove the wiring harness from it but, you would have to find it on the RDX before you could disconnect it.

We are impressed with how quiet the cabin of the RDX can be when driven in Comfort mode on a nice road...but change to Sport, and that all goes out the window with the fake noise. Hoping with y’all, that a fix is just around the corner...please let us turn it off!

Acura’s target audience for this vehicle is the 30-40 yr olds, a younger audience.. That is what the president said at the unveiling and the advertising shots reflected this marketing strategy. . I hooe Acura hasn’t forgotten it’s tenured loyalist. Those of us who want this car because of it’s luxury label and all the features that have long followed it...dependability, quality and the pursuit of quietness at an affordable price.

Having a quiet cabin is what (at one time) put Lexus a cut above the rest. In time, others attempted to model after that iconic quietness. What has happened?

I agree the added engine noise should be something one can disable completely, but the noise cancelling electronics should be kept if quiet is the goal. It almost sounds like disconnecting that module disables both.

What other cars or car manufactures use "artificial" engine noise? I know the theory of "noise cancelling" but I'm unaware of its use in automobiles and I don't this is the case with the new RDX.....from what I understand they are adding a noise to make it sound like engine noise NOT adding a frequency to cancel it.

Unfortunately, many cars use this technology. Mustangs, F-150s, various Lexus, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche 911, BMW 5 series, and others.

I think they are doing both. I only want the noise cancelling part.

it's so bizarre that they would have noise canceling technology within the cabin but forces us to listen to fake engine noise which can be achieved by giving a toy wheel to the toddler in the back.
