My car randomly pops up update notices. But then when I check, there is nothing available. It's messing with me.

I haven't done an update yet but I just got my RDX connected to my home network today. It looks like I have updates enabled for my home network, Honda & Acura dealer networks (e.g., AHMOTA, etc.) and OTA. How is OTA done? 4G cell network? Satellite? I want to do updates at the time of my choosing on my home network. I sure as hell don't want the vehicle to start updating spontaneously from an open network if I happen to park near a Starbucks or McDonalds.

Should I disable everything except my home network? Or just leave it alone. Does the vehicle need my acknowledgement before it will install an update.

I'll answer the last question. You will get a notification that an update is available, and you will be able to choose when it updates.

Not via satellite.

Whether Acura has and/or will continue to "push" updates out over the AcuraLink cellular network is an interesting question.

There is no question that updates can be done via an external WiFi source. Acura claims it can also be done via the in-car subscription WiFi service.

FWIW, the updates aren't very big and the download time is brief. Installing the update takes more time.

As for the security of the updates, dunno. I try not to think about it too much.
