Lower Bumper Trim - Front - Painted? Defect?
the spots are spots and on the finish
We recently noticed some spots on our optional Lower Bumper Trim after our A1 service visit. Brought it back and they are going to replace it. Calling it defective. I appreciate them taking care of us first and foremost.
I looked at the Acura site again and it says "Made of high-quality material with a painted silver finish". I don't think this piece is painted. Here are pics of the spots. If you have this part on your car, what are your thoughts. We only have 5000 miles on it and are very well kept.
I did try claybar on the surface and did nothing.

that is a painted bumper.... a primered bumper is a light matte grey/black.
of course a clay bar wont remove that, a clay bar is more for embedded iron/dust.
it looks like clear coat failure, or perhaps over-spray... which the acura dealer is correct..defective.

So that is the factory painted surface on it? Feel more like a gelcoat plastic than painted.. It's not as durable as the other painted surfaces for sure..

Drifting
It's an Acura accessory, so not factory installed.
It may be an issue with premature finish degradation after installation, perhaps accelerated by exposure to an unknown fluid during servicing.
I think the warranty on OEM accessories is 4 years/50k miles ( parts and labor ) if it's dealer installed at time of purchase, or 1 year ( parts only ) for DIY. Not sure about dealer installed after purchase. From language in the Owner's Manual, it may vary. "Consult the Warranty Manual".
