Hi Everyone,

Has anybody had any problems with their rear differentials dripping fluid? I have a '19 A-Spec with a little over 5k on the odometer and have taken it in to the dealership twice already in the last three weeks and will be bringing it in a third time this Wednesday. The dealership acknowledged that it is leaking fluid both times, the first time they had thought that it was coming from a sensor that was loose (they noted it may have come from the factory like that) so they tightened it, the second time they had thought it was coming from a faulty solenoid, which they replaced, and it's still dripping just as bad as before, It's frustrating because every time I park there is a new drop on the ground and I shouldn't have to keep a piece of cardboard under a 46k car to keep from damaging my driveway, which it has already done. Just wanted to see if anybody has had a similar problem and how it was resolved so that hopefully I can point my dealership in the right direction. To put things in perspective, the cardboard below represents two days of drips.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Aren't most states 3 tries and then lemon law?

The kilometer reference suggests this may be a Canadian, eh? I don't know if Canada has lemon laws.

Should be a relatively easy fix.

Just let dealer service do their job. They may have to put UV dye in the diff fluid to nail down where the slow leak is coming from. But whatever we're looking at in that first photo is pretty suspicious. Is that where the main drive shaft mates with the differential? I think the hydraulic pumps for the diff live near there.

BTW, diff fluid won't damage your driveway. Any unsightly oil staining can be dealt with using a detergent of your choice, eh.

Simple Green springs to mind.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I appreciate it. The 5k is in reference to 5,000 miles, and I'm in New Jersey, so we are covered under the lemon laws, though I would only go this route as a last resort. Apart from some minor items I've had, I haven't had anything that has really bothered me other than this leak and the fact that the dealership hasn't been able to fix it with two visits already, isn't giving me a lot of hope that they are going to get it right the next time. I can always open up a case with Acura the next step, if it doesn't get resolved this time The first picture is where the driver's side rear axle meets the differential, I'm pretty confident that this is where the leak is coming from, and will ask them to focus on this area. The bottom line is that it shouldn't be leaking on a new car, I don't know how much I am losing while I drive the car, and ultimately it can become a safety issue if it gets any worse. I'll update this when I get a resolution in hopes that it can help anybody else with a similar issue.

There is an oil seal at that site. Acura part # 91201-5M0-003

About a $15 part. Who knows how many hours labor to get at it, but that's not your problem. Stuff happens.

Or you could squirt in some "leak stop in a can" and really gum up the works.

Hi - I was wondering if you ever got this resolved?

I just took delivery of a 2020 A-Spec AWD and it is doing the same thing. By your picture it looks like mine is leaking in the exact same place. Very frustrating on a brand new car!

I did get it resolved! Per the dealership write up it was the left side inboard drive shaft oil seal. Looks like the part number was 91201-5M0-003 (Oil Seal 35X50
