J.D. Power - Invited to Participate in Survey
I see from today's U.S. Post Office's "Informed Delivery" that a letter from J.D. Power is coming to my mailbox today. From the photo shown by Informed Delivery, the outside of the envelope says, "Tell us what you think of your new 2019 Acura RDX!"
I've been nothing short of impressed and very, very happy with my new RDX, but will be answering the questions honestly. Never been invited by J.D. Power to do any survey on anything before. I think it's cool, so I'm glad for the opportunity.

Never forget this one thing about J.D. Powers:
THEY ARE PAID BY THE AUTOMAKERS.
That is all.

It also says "The $100,000 Grand Prize could be yours" on the envelope. Now wouldn't that be nice.

I stopped responding to these surveys because they waste the respondent’s time with many stupid questions. Why are you asking me if I have features that are standard equipment in the RDX? Or whether I have a manual or automatic transmission?
if they’re not willing to put in the work to customize their survey for each car, why should I give them free labor?
By the way, under the law anything you get unsolicited in the mail is yours to keep. So pocket the dollar and recycle the survey.

Execs at the car companies then use this data to make funny decisions; e.g. BMW decided to start make FWD cars because "most owners don't even know if their car is FWD or RWD". The 1 and some 2 series have made the switch. There were rumors the 3 series would also make the switch at some point.
Some people may not know what a manual transmission is, so they may respond with "I don't know" for the transmission type.
