My dealer paired the opener which I was smart enough to take with us. I had to do the second step using the "learn" button on the garage opener at home. The owners manual steps worked for me. Believe there is also an Acura YouTube for this.

First point the hand held garage opener at the Homelink button. Push & hold the button on the hand held and the button you want to learn underneath the mirror simultaneously. You should only need to do this for 5 seconds tops. Then go to the Garage opening unit in the garage and push the “learn” button. Then hussle back to the car and push & hold the same button you pointed the handheld remote at. The garage opener dome light should blink when it syncs with the homelink button in the car. Then do a quick test to ensure the homelink button now works.

If you go onto youtube you can find out how to do. They are all basically the same..some u need to use the hand held garage door opener..hold it up to the mirror.....others u need to push the learn button on the actual garage door unit......ya it can be frustrating,lol.....and when u go and sell it..dont forget to wipe them clean!!

It took me multiple tries with my Pilot and multiple tries with my RDX. I have a Genie with a rolling code.
Follow the procedure in the manual carefully and T O - T H E - L E T T E R .

I have the same issue with our old MDX - issue gets resolved after I install the fresh battery to the remote control. Hope this help.

On my 2011 Overhead Door (Genie) opener, I had to change the rolling code mode on my remote from CodeDodger 2 to the less-secure CodeDodger "1". HomeLink isn't compatible with the CodeDodger 2. Perhaps Chamberlain/LiftMaster requires a similar procedure?

I have a realativity current LiftMaster by Chamberlain First try with just my Remote pointed at the Acura Mirror with the Remote Control Buttons.
You should only need to use the GDO Learn feature if the this does not work, - typically on older GDOs.

@BadRobot65 - I sort of have the same problem with an old liftmaster remote and a 2019 TLX. Where did you hold the remote? It seems it doesn't matter where I hold the remote the slow flashing never changes (implying that it's not receiving the signal or something). I had the same sort of issue with a 2013 RDX a while back. I can't for the life of me understand why I can't get my remotes to work easily with Homelink. If someone has the magic position to where you hold the remote for programming, let me know. Once I get past that, the garage door "learning" process is actually the easiest part... but can't seem to get past the initial programming. -sigh-

I hear you, I also have the Genie with the rolling codes. The use of the remote to train my MDX did not work. I ended up driving into the garage, pressed the learn button on the door opener and it paired. Took about 10 annoying minutes.

I wasn't able to use the hand held remote for programming I just parked the RDX near the garage and went through the pairing procedure like the manual said. and it connected right away.

Automotive radar systems operate at or above 24 GHz.
Garage door openers operate in the 315-390 MHz range - a much lower frequency.
The TPMS sensors on the RDX operate at 433 MHz and at a much lower power level than garage door opener remotes which have to transmit hundreds of feet rather than a few feet.

I have read (one example --> LED interference ) that if you have LED light bulbs (or even CFLs) in or near the garage, they MAY interfere with your GDO remote, both hand held and Homelink in car. Not verified, but something else to be aware of.

I've also seen forum members post that certain dashcams reduced their GDO range.

I was never able to get my BMW working so I didn't bother with the Acura. A friend that was visiting insisted on giving it a go and he was able to do it. I think because of timing it works best if you have 2 people working on it together, one inside the car and the other dealing with the garage's controls.

Depending on your door opener, you may need a "Homelink kit" from Liftmaster/Chamberlain.
You can call Liftmaster and throw a fit and they'll probably send you the kit at no charge as the 2.0+Security is claimed to have homelink compatibility.

Agree
They actually sell LEDs that won’t interfere with the remotes. I bought them and they work great. Took me forever to figure out why my homelink and remotes only worked when they wanted to. Since changing the bulbs, they are flawless with good distance too.
